lights and machine work when panel choices are selected. The door won't open. I've pushed and held random buttons on the machine to no avail. It's finishing a cycle now..how do I get the door to open when the cycle is finished?

  • jecvec Apr 10, 2011

could the problem be a broken latch? If so, how do we trip the latch assembly to open the machine?

  • jecvec Apr 10, 2011

now all lights work as normal. and the machine cycles as normal...I just can't get the door open... If I need to replace the control module, how do i get the door open????

  • jecvec Apr 10, 2011

there is no water in the machine....it completely cycled. how do I open the door?

the machine has been installed behind the front of the countertop so that disasembling from a top panel will be difficult. Sliding the machine forward from the wall will require some cutting. I don't have access to the manual... is there a way to trip the lock as one might in opening a doorlock on a car? Do I wait until tomorrow and look at a machine manual at the appliance store?

Hi.

I understood that the problem is that machine works, but the control panel does not display any light during cycle. If problem is instead that there is no power at all (no lights, no sounds, and no functionality), then the firs part to test is the power cord, that may have a built in fuse.

If there is power but there are no lights, try first disconnecting power cord or tripping circuit breaker for fie or ten minutes. This will power reset the appliance.

If that does not fix the problem, the control panel built in the door must be disassembled and tested. The problem is fixed replacing the control panel or the control module.

If you need to contact a technician or to purchase parts, use the phone number listed on the owners manual.

You can find parts and specific diagrams using the link below:

    Hi.

A broken latch may result in door not opening, but no lights in control panel is not commonly caused by a broken latch. If the latch is creating a short to ground because of a contact, that may cause control module malfunction, but it would be a very uncommon fault.

The latch is probably seized because the control module is defective.

    Hi.

If the machine restarted after reset, then the control module is usually OK. Often you get control temporary failures that can be caused by malfunctions taking place elsewhere.

The door lock is stuck, either because of the control module initial malfunction, or because the latch mechanism itself is defective.

Next step is getting rid of the water. Try first running a short cycle. Try to go through whole cycle, so that machine drains. Disconnect the appliance, move it and check the drain hose at the back. Empty water inside and check hose height settings. They are given in the manual. If hose is set incorrectly you get water back in the dishwasher.

Connect and test. If that does not work next step would be reaching the pump hose. This depends on the model. If the pump is not accessible with door shut, then the machine must be disassembled from top panel.

    In short:

First give it a couple of tries running cycles.

Try again disconnecting power after cycle is done.

If that doesn't work, check drain hose.

If still no luck the machine must be disassembled to unlock the door. Test the door lock, and eventually replace it or fix wiring harness or control module. Overfill and pressure switch (if present) must be tested as well.

The wash light and the start/cancel button keep flashing. How do I fix it? I have a Kitchen Aide dishwasher model KUDS02FR

Hi,

The clean light usually will blink due to a failure to heat the water properly. This dishwasher looks for a temperature rise of the water during a heating cycle if it fails to see this rise for multiple cycles it may shut down and blink the clean light.
There are a few things to check before resetting the control.

-The unit not being level so both door switches do not make contact
-
The sump plugged up so water is not pumping across the heater (see sump clean out below)

- Not enough water filling the dishwasher

- The heat element is not working

To reset the control use this key dance within 5 seconds press:HEATED DRY, NORMAL, HEATED DRY, NORMAL
This will cause you to enter the diagnosis cycle once this is finished or you hit cancel the control should be unlocked and ready to use.

Thank you !

I have a Kitchen Aid range model KGST307GBS0. The

The door light switch was broken (upper right face of oven). The door switch is automatically activated when the door is opened to turn on the oven light. When the door is closed the switch is depressed to turn off the light. It seems the switch position is detected by the oven and if it is in the open position it will not allow the oven to function properly (reach temperature or allow the cleaning cycle to run). I temporarily locked the broken switch in the closed position, which allows the oven to function. A new switch was ordered for replacement.

Kitchen aid top shelf warm

  1. check gasket
  2. check the light switch on top of the refrig. section. If then pushed the switch turns the light off, but the light is still on with the fridge door closed - door needs adjustment.

Kitchenaid dishwasher - door will not latch

The latch needs to be replaced. Kitchen Aid has made two updates to this latch. I.E. 2-revised latches. I just replacd the latch assembly and the dishwasher works fine now. Do a search for kitchen aid repair parts online and hav them shipped to your home. The repair takes five minutes. Un-screw all torx bit screws on door and the latch is under neath. One electrical dip switch held on by another screw and a two prong tab to undo the old latch. This seriously took me five minutes to repair and the parts were $40.00 online shipped.

Hope his helps.

On mine the "normal" light was the one that was flashing; after a cycling of the breaker switch in the electrical main panel and closing the washer door, it went to a 2 minute rinse before shutdown.
