You can replace the foam on the woofers if thats the only issue. I have a set of these and it takes an angel foam and glued to the inside. a 10" foam is what it takes. you can find them on ebay and other web pages. 10" foam surround.

I just looked and saw what i said. It takes a flat edge foam. I should of read what i posted before posting. sorry. you can use an angel edge foam if you cant find a flat edge foam. Since it glues to the back of the cone you wont see that it's not the right foam. i used cheap foam from www.matelectronics.com on my set. I used the angel edge foam on my set.

I need a wiring diagram from car stereo to 2 x 6 " x 9 " and a sub woofer please

You can connect the two 6x9 speakers to the two individual left and right outputs of the car stereo.
Connect each of the left and right channel with the correct polarity . Now the Sub-woofer requires an amplifier to be connected separately and so you need to use the car stereo to be linked to a sub woofer amp which powers the sub woofer.

Box size and airspace for 10 inch subwoofers

Regardless of your wattage rating on your sub woofer, sub woofers differ in only one way. You get an "Open Air" and a "Closed air" Sub woofer, That being said, you'll have to check on your magnet which one you have, to make the boxes for that particular sub woofer. If it is an "Open air" Sub woofer, you should see a hole with "wire mesh" or "metal grid" in the center, at the back of the magnet. If it is a "Closed air", the magnet will be solid with no hole whatsoever.

If it is a "Open air" sub, your boxes should always be sealed with silicone sealant, and no ports are to be cut in your box.

Regarding the "Closed air" sub woofers, you should have 2 ports cot in the corners of the boxes just below your sub on the face of the box, and the port sizes should be around 50mm in diameter. Get yourself some 50mm PVC drain piping to use as ports. Firstlycut yourself a 100mm piece and insert flush with the front of the box. Test your sound. then try a 150mm piecs and test again. You should start with a 100mm long piece in the one box and add 50mm increments to "tune" the port up to 250mm, depending on the frequency of bass you require. Carry on testing the sound on each increment until you find the sound you want, Then silicone the port to the box for permanent fixing.

On a 10 inch Sub woofer ranging between 80Hz and 100Hz, the ample box size required should be around 26 liters, meaning that you will end up with a box of 11 inches high, x 11 inches wide, x 11 inches deep.
Enjoy!
No sound comingout now on my HT BD2T subwoofer, just humming.

Try reconnecting; then replacing the audio cable for the sub woofer. I think it is just a standard RCA cable.

When you disconnect the RCA cable does the sub woofer still hum? If so the sub woofer may be bad. If it falls silent chances are it's just the cable.

I have connected all speakers but not getting anything coming through the subwoofer? I have connected all of my existing Sony suround system speakers 4 corner and one middle and the sub woofer to the...

You need to use an amplified sub. The Yamaha receiver is only sending "Pre-Amp Signal" not amplified audio like the rest of your speakers. If your sub has a crossover built in, connect it's speaker level (wires) to the "B" side of the receiver which will send audio to your sub and it will cross it over internally. Not the best sounding, but it works. Amplified subs range in price from 200 and up. Hope this helps

How do I hook up a non powered sub woofer on my htr-5630?

You will need an amplifier or 2 channel receiver. Hook the sub out rca jack to the rca inputs on this new amp or receiver and hook the speaker terminals on sub to speaker terminals on same amp or receiver. Your Yamaha receiver doesn't have any power for a passive sub.Just pick up any old fairly high powered receiver for fifty dollars and you're good to go.I use old dolby pro logic receivers as they are a dime a dozen today. Good luck.

Hi I own a Technics Hi-Fi system (Model SC-EH780) and would like to attach a subwoofer to it. I cannot find the subwoofer unit that is supposed to go with this system. Can you help?

Any powered sub-woofer will work with it. Check the back of the Technics, make sure there is an RCA output labeled "Sub-woofer" or "Woofer" or "Sub". If so, you can get any brand of powered sub woofer and it will work. A powered sub-woofer is one with an amplifier for the sub built into the box and you will need to plug it into an A/C outlet as well. The only exceptions to what will work with this unit is to make sure you are not buying a sub-woofer that is made to only work with the companion unit it is originally sold with. Many Panasonic and JVC sub woofers are like this. Just look for a sub-woofer that is not part of any system. Velodyne makes some really great sub-woofers that would work nice with yours, but they can be a little expensive, but they are very good.

If your Technics has no RCA output for the sub-woofer, you will need to make sure that whatever powered sub-woofer you buy has a speaker level input for it. Most powered sub-woofers have this feature, so that you may just run the front speaker outputs of the receiver into the subwoofer and then the sub-woofer will have a set of speaker outputs right below the speaker inputs so you can still have your front speakers connected to that and not loose anything from your system.

I hope I have explained this in a manner you will understand easy, if not just post whatever questions you may have right on this thread and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

It would also be appreciated if you could rate this solution if you no longer need any help from me. If you do require more help, please wait to rate this until we are finished. That way I do not get an undeserved bad rating when we have not even finished our communications.
By the way, A "Thanks for trying" and "Helpful" rating are really not good, they always end up lowering my overall score.

RCA Sub-Woofer

Did you try making sure the subwoofer is turned on under the set up menu on the Sony Receiver?

Press Set Up, Press the left or right button above the scroll wheel until you get to SW. It should say SW: ON or SW: OFF. If it says SW: OFF, use the Scroll wheel to scroll right until it says SW: ON. Also, make sure you aren't in 2CH mode, try A.F.D or surround sound.
