Question about Dualit Kitchen Appliances - Others

We have a 4-slice 4BR/30. When we put a bagel in there was a flash of light from the far left element and then it didn't work. When we plug it in, it blows the circuit. where should we look first?

the first expert said the flash means that the element is gone and that no replacement parts are available and that we should get a new toaster.

You're saying we should check for a short. Then what?

The Element has a short, thats why its tripping the breaker. To check elements, remove screws from bottom of toaster, release cord from fitting, remove carriage lever knob. Pull side panels outward to release metal shell. You will need an Volt/Ohm meter. Probe terminals of element, look for a reading of 14 to 20 ohms.

What the flash was is the heating element on that side has broke and is now touching the frame of the toaster. You can not get parts for the toaster. I recommend replacing the toaster.

Hi my girlfriend just gave me this toaster, and would like to know what the lighted buttons are for thanks

Since you don't mention the make or model number of the toaster or its age I can only make the following guesses.
It might be an electronic model. To test if this is the case, leave the toaster unplugged and push the lever of the toaster down. If it does not stay down it is an electronic toaster. If it stays down then it is NOT electronic.
The lights might be lighted push buttons.
If you plug the toaster in then put a slice of bread or two in and push the lever handle down and one light comes on then this is probably a dual purpose pushbutton. It indicates that the heating elements are on and if you push it will cancel the toasting cycle and the bread slices should pop up.
If there is a button beside the above button it could be for extending the toaster cycle time a bit longer to compensate for a thicker slice or a denser bread like a bagel. If you push it, it will light up to let you know that the cycle has been extended for this reason.
If there is a button beside this one, it could be for extending the toasting cycle to compensate for a frozen slice of bread or whatever, like a bagel or even a frozen waffle.
If you find the make and model for your toaster, it might be on the bottom somewhere, google it to see if you can download an instruction manual for it.
Hope this helps. Good Luck.

What are top buttons for

Each bay has 3 buttons: Left button: Frozen items (Waffles, etc.)
Center button: Bagel setting ( turns off the outside elements, toasting only the insides of the bagel)
Right button: Cancel (turns off the Frozen and/or the Bagel settings and "pops up" the toast.

Toastmaster B1042 toasts only one side of one slice and both sides of other slice

The is by design. The bagel side only heats on one side because of the bagel not needing to be toasted .

Received 2 slice toaster (kitchenaid) as a gift - from the very 1st time it was used, only the outer coils would heat up, so only 1/2 of each slice ever gets toasted!!! Anyone who could help solve this...

I think it is set to cook bagels. Check the control settings.
Most toasters have a bagel setting which only cooks the
sliced side of the bagel. This model is designed to accept bagels. Hope this helps.

Duraband 4 slice toaster manual model # TS-5221

if u need a manual for a toaster, then u r really in trouble...espcially for the amt of money u paid for it.
ok...
if u need instructions on how to use a toaster...here goes:
When:
A toaster is used to heat slices of bread, bagels, waffles, etc. to a hot, crispy consistency. Most toasters allow the user to set the toasting length to ensure the toasted bread comes out to temperature and crispiness to the user’s likes.
Where:
Toasters should be used on a flat, uncluttered surface near an electrical outlet but far from sinks, or running/standing water.
How:
To toast bread in a toaster, follow these instructions:

1. Place slices of toast, one each, in the slots on the top of the toaster.

2. Find the toast setting (a knob or lever) and adjust to the desired wellness of the toast. (Generally, there is a scale printed near the knob or lever ranging from light to dark toast).

3. Push down the toasting lever (moving the slices of bread down into the toaster between the heating elements.

4. When the toast is finished, the slices will “pop” up automatically.

5. Remove the toast from the toaster.
WARNING:
If the bread should get stuck inside the toaster, DO NOT PUT ANYTHING INSIDE THE TOASTER in attempt to dig it out. UNPLUG the toaster, turn it upside down and shake. If the toast does not fall out, use a plastic fork or knife to gently remove it from the toaster. Using metal utensils could damage the heating elements. NEVER stick anything in the toaster while it is plugged in.
*For further safety, it is recommended that the toaster be unplugged after each use.
I wish u luck and happy toasting.
