I would HIGHLY recommend AGAINST attempting to repair the power cord or use the unit with the damaged power cord there is too high of a chance of getting shocked or worse causing a fire. Step away from the console take a break and go get a new power cord =)

How do i hardwire Compaq cq62 power cord. Dog chewed the end of mine off where the jack is

Most likely there are two wires a + and - power wires.
If you strip the broken ends of the wires on the plug and the end of the broken cable then you can solder the broken ends of the wire together. make sure the colors of the wires match and the wires are insulated so they do not short against each other.

The easiest way to tell quickly, if you have an old PC fan, is to wire it together and you will find out pretty quick. Just touch them together. (I can't find a similar adapter right now or I would tell you which one is + and -)

If you have a soldering iron and some experience, it is easy to solder the parts back together, just be sure to examine the cord closely for any chew marks /pierces. If you do not have a soldering iron / eperience, generic power supplies for laptops with voltage switchable voltage for different brands and different heads are about 30$, check your local store. be sure to by one with enough watts to power your system.

How do i splice the power cord back together

Hi,
You will need to cut away the outer rubber insulation. Be careful not to cut the insulation on the 3 separate wires. Then you will need to remove about three fourths of a inch of insulation from each of the three wires. If you can solder, then solder the black to black, green to green , white to white. Then Tape with electrical tape each wire separately. Do a good job of taping. If you cannot solder, then go to a hardware store a buy # Wire Nuts. Take the loose end of the cord with you so as to get the right size of Wire Nut. The wire Nut repair is bulky , but secure. You are using a lot of Amps with the Steamer so you want a good job, lest the repair gets hot. Either repair I mentioned will work safely and well.
Good Luck !!!!!!!!!!!

Yea yea yea ... blame it on the poor dog ...

Is this printer a 110 VAC into the device or is it powered by a transformer?

If by a standard cord, use any computer cord. If by a transformer, there is that possibililty you can repair the broken wire by removing the damaged portion and reconnecting the two ends. Pay attention to the marks on the wire (white mark or ridge or color of the conductor). Make sure the two wires are insulated from each other.

If you are not able to effect this repair yourself, or by a neighbor with a such skills, get yourself to the computer repair shop around the corner from where you live and plea your case. Expect to pay $15.00 for this repair job. If you require a new power supply, please check www.hp.com/support for your model, e-bay or Craigs List.

There are a few emergency ideas for you. If it is really really really critical and you can't find or make the repair ... you can always get a new, economy printer to use until you can get this one going again.

Dog chewed on the power cord, how do I replace it?

I would try to find a repair shop to replace it as bissell does not currently offer replacement power cords (atleast not on their website) if your power cord is only chewed in one place you could always just splice it back together and use some electrical tape. sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Remember this is a DC output...Make sure you have the right wire hooked together. What I mean is if you soldered the wires make you didn't reverse the negative and positive. Otherwise look for a new power supply.
I have had to replace mine a few times.

Dog chewed cord on bissell model 6579-2 how do I replace it?

You can cut the bad section of wire out of the cord, cut the insulation on the cord to get to the wires. Match your colors, strip the insulation from the individual wires and twist together. Wrap each wire with electrical tape (making sure no wire is exposed, can be a fire hazard), then wrap the cord with electrical tape. The cord will be a little shorter, but should work fine.
