Question about Panasonic DMP-BD605 Blu-Ray Player

Open Question

My panasonic DMP BD605 blu ray player will no longer turn on, and send a signal to the TV. I can turn it on, but all that happens is the digital read out on the player itself will be stuck on the 'Hello' screen. On the TV it says no signal, and has the blank blue screen. I can't open the disc tray unless i turn the player off and press the open tray button without turning it on. to close it i have to physically push on the tray to get it started. I've tried changing the HDMI cables, and tried using componant video cables, but still no signal is received by the TV. It first broke down while watching a blu ray movie. The screen just froze in the middle of the movie and then it just stopped working.

SOURCE: Panasonic DMP-BD605 cannot read Blu

From your post, I understands that your Blu-Ray player does plays all other discs except Blu-Ray discs. If so, there is no doubt that its Laser Pickup Unit has gone faulty. There are two parts in the Blu-Ray laser disc assembly that emits laser beam to read discs. One part will be active when we insert CD,MP3,DVD. The other part emits blu-ray, as it indicates, which is energised when a Blu_ray disc is detected in the tray. In your device, this part has damaged. Threfore, it will read and play all other types of discs except Blu-Ray discs. There is no remedy other than repalce the Laser Pickup Unit with same type and number. Insist on same type and number, as it is the critical part of your device. The cost of it will be a little higher than normal DVD laser pickup unit, and placement also is crtical. If you are not aware in digital electronics and some experience in disassembling and reassembling this type of mechanism, never attempt to do this work by yoursef. OK.

I have a DMP-BD605 Panasonic Blu-ray Disc Player and cannot find the activation code for Netflix. I see Picaso, Weather etc but no menu for Netflix

Well the DMP-BD605 does not support netflix and far as I know it will not. You have to move up to higher class of player on Panasonic blu-ray players. I have a DMP-BD605 and there is no menu for netflix and as far as I know there is no hack or crack to get it on that player..

Hope that helps, but I am sure that is not what you want to hear ..

Blueray screen shows "hello" "play" "dvd" and "setup." I cannot get a display screen or onscreen menu.

What cables did you use to connect the dvd player to the tv? If you used the composite, make sure the yellow is connected to the yellow.
