Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have a Dell 962 all in one Printer that I recently tried to move to another PC. It gave me an error message roughly that my cable to my printer to PC was bad or not connected. I moved it back to the starting PC and hooked it back up. There I got the same message. So I changed the cable out with known working cable.Still the same error message. One little thing when I do plug in new or old cable I do get a comp. tone that it has been attached. I also get the tone for disconnect when I unplug. What is the most likely trouble with my printer

It may be my age, have been dealing with this stuff for ~40 years but I still do not 'hot-plug' any peripheral device, some systems and peripherals don't tolerate it well. Try powering down the PCs and printer, then plugging it in, then turning on the printer first, then the PC.

You have done about all you can, swapping cables and systems with the same results and the beep tones you are getting in all cases aren't really an 'I'm OK' but a signal that there is current flowing between the devices. I suspect the USB port on your printer is not communicating; I just ordered a multi-interface tester that would reveal if there is any traffic between connected devices but it isn't here yet so I can't really recommend it. You can take a look if you like
Interface tester
I'm retired but can't resist the low price and its broad coverage.
Since USB is rolled into a small chip today, there isn't likely to be a separate cheap board to replace but is probably part of the main circuit board so not really worth repairing. Good luck-

I have a dell printer with a error code 1102...how do I solve this?

    error code 1102
    Hi there
Your error message is coming from the Dell Series 5 ink Cartridge. To reset the error message, unplug the printer from the wall. Now remove the power brick from the back of the printer. Wait 60 seconds and then plug everything back in. This usually resets any error messages on the printer. Make sure the Dell Series 5 ink cartridges are intalled correctly by removing them and re-seating them .

    If using a photo cartridge...

Photo cartridge in the black side(left) and color in the color side(right)
Dell Series 5 ink cartridges have a sensor in them that cannot be reset

It is also possible to get a new ink cartridge with a bad sensor. Please take it to the place of purchase for a refund or a replacement one.

Won't copy, error message 2200 pops up and says to check manual. Manual doesn't reference that error message.

Try this - turn off the printer.
    Remove the power supply.
Press the power button for 15 seconds.
    Then plug it back in.

    That should've cleared the printer!
