Question about Maytag Ovens

2 Answers

Hello - I have a Maytag Performa electric range MER5752BAW. The stovetop works fine. However any feature related to the touchpad doesn't work. The oven, self cleaning, broiler, etc... doesn't work. The clock works fine. When we try to broil or start the oven, it initially looks like its ok but after 2 seconds it goes back to showing the time.

Check the oven temp sensor. Inside the oven sticking out of the back wall is a metal rod it is the oven temp sensor.
You can do this. Unplug the stove. It is held with two screws inside the oven. Pull the stove out remove the lower back panel to undo the connector and check the Sensor. If sensor is faulty, then it will not let the broil function to start or heat. But if that checks out, ok, then it can be problem with touch pad panel. Its got faulty and getting short. So the oven starts and trips inside and timer resets and shows time.------

You can get required parts from from online sites like: --- www.repairclinic.com or from searspartsdirect online site. --------- This should help.Check out.Keep updated.Thanks.Helpmech.

Testing it with meter can be done.-------Disconnect the sensor plug and then insert one meter lead into the terminal of the temperature sensor plug and place the other meter lead into the other terminal of temperature sensor plug. Place the dial on your multimeter to 200K .

You will need an ohm meter to test the sensor, most oven sensors should read about 1100 ohms at room temperature 60 - 80 °F (15 -27 °C), if the sensor reading is 'open' or extremely high this means the sensor is faulty and needs replacing, if on the other hand the reading is extremely low then the sensor has shorted (check for wires touching each other) and will need replacing as well.----------- this should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Hi,
In your case burner switch needs to be replaced. These switches operate like regular dimmer switches. By regulating the amount of electricity flowing through the switch to the burner they allow you to adjust the temperature setting, if you can't adjust it then the switch is bad. I suggest you get a new one from the parts supply. They aren't hard but you need to decide and let me know, but it really is simple if you can unplug wires and plug new ones in and turn a nut to get the switch off your probably capable of this repair your self.
Thanks

Frigidaire oven wont heat up but stovetop and digital all works

Hello angeleyez82 - The EOC (electronic oven control/control board) basically sends power to both the broil and bake elements. As long as the power supply to the range (240VAC) and wiring between the elements is correct, then typically only the element(s) or EOC could prevent the unit from heating. I hope this information helps to some degree.

When I turn on my Maytag performa using the "bake" function, everything looks ok on the display, however the temp. never rises above 100. I've tried "bake" and "convect", and neither one work. "Clean"...

Usually the problem is the heating element. This is easy to check and usually inexpensive. There is a video at www.appliancehelponline.com/servicemanual.html that will walk you thru testing and replacing. It may be a different model but the testing and replacement will be the same. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations of your specific model.

However....."broil" feature works just fine.
Please help.
