Question about Mitsubishi VS-45609 TV

1 Answer

We have a 11yrold Mitsubishi big screen vs45609 . When we turned the tv on this morning the lower right corner is stretched looking almost swirled looking . The rest of the screen is fine. You can see it when the screen is black also. Is it a a light engine going or a light bulb? Is it worth fixing?

If you are getting stretching or swirling in one area of the screen it could be a couple of things. One it could be that the projector as this appears to be a rear projection unit can be going out or that its loosing the ability to guide the beam to that area of the screen. I think either way the most economical solution would be to purchase a replacement unit as a newer unit will also consume way less power especially if you look for one that has the energy star logo on the product.

Look inside front panel under RHS picture tube for leaked fluid. If you see a puddle on signal board, take tv to street - it is unrepairable then. The coolant is poisionous.
If that looks ok, then make sure you're using original Mits. remote.
Hope this helps.

Tiny particles of dust on the light engine lens can cause this (and was a service call for me about a month ago), or possibly the expensive light engine.

Lenses

The screen with the "swirls" on it is the fresnel lens and that is the one that goes in back then the lenticular lens goes next (it has the feel of a grid to it). Then the screen proetector goes on the very front. The fresnel lens only works installed one way. On Sony TV's look for the orange tag with the part number on it and put that to the lower right facing outword and usually 99% of the time this is how they go back in.

Color issues in the lower right corner

Unplug the set overnight and plug back in and turn the set on . If the spot goes away alittle then do this again. Up to three days > if that dosent fix the problem then you have a problem in the deguissing coil curcuit. Probably a cod joint on the thermister or a bad relay , a bad coil . Not a big deal repair. Good luck
