ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT.
Sounds like your problem may be a broken belt, or the belt may have slipped off of the motor pulley, or idler arm pulley or a faulty motor.
If you have to check/replace/repair your drum motor, drum seals, belt, rollers, etc.
If replacing drum seals be sure to use a good grade of weather proof cement to hold the seal/s in place, some seals are furnished with the cement to glue it in place.
Note: This method works for most front loading machines.
Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer. Be real careful not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch or other electrical connections.
Remove the lint filter and the screws that hold the filter housing.
Then remove the top of the dryer.
Note: Some of the tops tilt backwards and do not have to be removed completly.
Remove the front of the machine, this will expose the belt and drum, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm bracket with pulley, and motor with pulley. Pay attention to the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt and drum.
Sometimes the belt will slip off of the idler arm or motor causing the drum not to turn.
Note:The way the belt goes back on is, as the belt comes off the drum has to be doubled (pushed together to form a loop) and goes under the idler pulley then to the motor.
While you have the drum out, I would recommend that you lubricate the drum rollers at the shaft of the roller with a good grade of machine oil like 3 in One oil. This will save you a problem later with the rollers getting noisy, also check your drum rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them this will cause a thumping type noise. You will need to replace the drum rollers if they have flat spots on them.

When pushing the start button dryer hums but does not spin. when u release start button dryer shuts off

Sounds like a bad motor. Check to make sure the drum isn't stuck, if you can spin the drum put some tape on the door switch and press the start button while you spin the drum. If the drum continues to rotate, you have a bad motor.

Dryer is getting very noisy. Does this mean there is a problem ?

The most common reason for the dryer drum to stop spinning is if your drum belt has snapped or has been worn down completely. This is an easy fix and simply involves buying a replacement belt and feeding it through the pulleys and on the roller and then back around the middle of the drum.

The rollers could have worm out causing the drum to spin in a bumpy and noisy manner , these are the little circle shaped objects your dryer actually sites and can usually be replaced depending on how old your dryer is. The pulleys could also be broken causing problems.

The motor could have died after many years of use if the drum is not moving at all and if it is moving the motor bearing could be off causing to spin around very roughly and sometimes scratch against the sides of the dryer compartment.

Noises coming from the dryer when its plugged in and spinning could also be due to a huge amount of dust built up around the dryer drum. Sometimes cleaning out the inside of your dryer and returning the drum to the correct position can fix this problem.

Screeching noises are not a good sign and sometimes its a sign that you drum is slowly cutting into the sides of your dryer which could permanently put your dryer out of use if its continues.i think i will work out

My dryer won't turn. The motor runs when you push start but the drum doesn't turn. I can turn it by hand and it will run.

The dryer does not spin, the motor runs but the drum doesn't spin

The dryer either spins because of belts/ropes or because the motor directly contacts the dryer drum. I would tip the dryer so I could inspect the drum drive mechanism(s). Make sure you don't have a belt that broke or slipped or that a drive wheel locked up.

Drum will not spin. The belt is not broken but is hanging lose

If the motor is working...Shut off the power to the dryer, reach inside the drum and try to rotate the drum 1/4-1/2 turn. Sometimes the motors get dead zones in them and this will help move it out of the dead zone

It could also be the drum rollers that need lubrication or replacement, if they are not rotating it would not allow the drum to spin.

I hope this helps
