Question about Iomega Prestige 1 TB USB 20 Hard Drive

1 Answer

I was using the iomega external hard drive to store my music files. When I open iTunes, all the songs stored on the device won't play and indicate that the files cannot be located. When I go to My Computer, the hard drive does not appear. Everything is plugged in and the device appears to be on, but the light on the side of it is not;.

Does it have its power cable attached also? You could try to remove the harddrive from usb port, restart computer and try again.

The "BEST" way to use any "external" device is to create one MORE copy of all your important files. If your MacBook dies, you have a copy of your files.
Or, if the external device dies, your MacBook still has a copy of your files. Safe!

The "WORST" way would be to copy your files to it *AND* delete the files from your Macbook,
and then to have the external device "die", killing the ONLY copy of your files. Ouch!

I download songs into my Itunes but the C: drive still decreases

The external hard drive will have a different drive letter than the default hard disk (C:). So in iTunes, you need to configure a different location to store your songs.
Just open My Computer and you should see the new drive letter.
Alternatively, you can move other files from the C: drive to the new external drive.

Song files donn't STAY in iTunes

The songs are located on your Simpletech drive. You have to move them to your music folder and then specify where the library is in iTunes. If you do have music in your music folder, then on XP, after you have iTunes open, go to Edit -> Preferences. Click on Advanced, and then change the library location.
