Question about Apple iTunes
Hello. I have a huge multimedia collection. I kept it on an external HD. I have a back up on another HD. The first one broke, so I switch, but Itunes can't find the library files. So it sees all my files but I can't access them. I've been trying to have a safe way to manage this problem since our home pc broke and we lost almost everything inside..... also to keep the pc faster and the MM files safe.. and now I can't use Itunes with all the apple devices because "they are sinced with another library"....I don't know how to do. I am willing to start everything from the beginning, but so what can I do about the apple devices? How can I keep copy of this "library file" for emergency use ( like now)? This on the family pc. THEN I just received an apple computer ( not mac book) and I wish to do the same there.. keep the media files on an external HD but I don't know how do it. All my files are legal, but not all of them were bought on Itunes. many were bought on different ( cheaper) platrforms. How can I solve this problem definetely? Many thanks if someone will help me I'll be grateful Francesca
You can try with this solution, first go to My Documents > My Music. Here rename your itune library.itl as itune library.itl.(any name). Re-copy your all data from old to new library, and then try. As per your problem you can do another thing and that is- as per other's who faced this problem before- first make a new folder in your itune library, then backup your all data, and then move them to library.xml folder.

The only way you may be able to solve this issue is to buy one larger external HDthat has enough memory for all your media plus some growing room to put all your itunes media on. All media to be synced to itunes must be on the same HD. It doesn't matter if you bought it from itunes, as long as it is a compatible format, it should find it and add it to your library if it is all in the same location.
Hope that helps.
