Question about Ovens

Open Question

Hi, We have a Nutid OV9 oven and today my daughter bakes some brownies. After baking, she programmed the oven to pyro cleaning without realizing that she left he silicon tray inside. When we arrived home, our house smells burned and when I opened the oven, it looks like something exploded inside. The silicon was burned and turned to ashes. There are brown powder, the glass was melted, the inside part is discolored. Can you please let me know how to clean the black spots inside and howwould we know if we can still use the oven.

SOURCE: Oven not cooking evenly, outside is getting brown but inside is undercooked

Sounds like the igniter is not operating at full capacity. What happens is that the oven does not light when it should. Instead, the oven is cooling down much too far so when the oven does light it has too heat more rapidly. This causes the outside to brown/burn long before it should.

SOURCE: left a silicone liner in a self-cleaning oven when I cleaned it

JUST SCRAPE IT OFF IF YOU CAN. OTHERWISE RUN ANOTHER CYCLE AND BURN THE REST OUT OF THERE.

OR JUST USE IT AS LONG AS YOU DONT SMELL ANYTHING BAD.

SOURCE: SMEG A21X-5 Freestanding Cooker: Main oven has smoke/fumes everytime its used!

usual cause of fumes is if the grill is in the oven, when for example a roast is done, fat spits onto the grill element and the circular element and smokes. if you leave it on, the smoke will clear. some ovens have a fat guard which clips over the grill in the centre of the back panel to prevent this.
to clean glass, just use scouring pads - glass is virtually impossible to scratch

SOURCE: Whirlpool oven door won't open.

You can try unplugging the over for a while and seeing if that helps. But if that doesn't help you will have to let the oven complete the cleaning cycle in order to regain use.

Can't turn off

From what you are describing, it sounds like the main oven control board has a shorted or stuck relay causing the oven to not shut off.

Baking on two racks - whenever I try to bake cookies on top and bottom racks, the lower tray does not bake anywhere NEAR as quickly....should I be able to bake evenly on up and down racks?

Hi,
Two racks never bake as evenly as one unless you use the fan inside the oven if you have one...The fan will also shorten the baking times...
The other thing that I would check is to make sure that the lower element in your oven is not blown and you are heating with the top element only...

My oven was a display model & I have no manual. I'm trying to figure out if I can do some type of delay bake

Here's the manufacturer's website for a free downloadable manual. Don't be thrown off by the whirlpool name - this will have your Maytag manual. Enjoy your new oven and send me a brownie when you bake the first batch!

Self-clean not cleaning

I was wrong (I think).  the baking element probably was burnt out as the repairman said.  He replaced it and I thought selfclean still wasn't working.  In fact, I think I just had to give the self-clean function more time.  Also, I was judging by smell.  We have become used to a bad odor during self clean which was missing when it was broken and still missing after the repair.  Bottom line, the oven was clean after the baking element was replaced, sans smell.

Mabe oven

Hi, well i have researched the mabe oven problem and it turns out that mabe used to make a 110V oven bake element for the ovens made in Mexico. However it appears that they no longer make that model oven and it's parts. Isn't that just golly gee terriffic!I am still searching for an element for it as GE who is also a share holder about 42% worth also has parts that sometimes will fit the Mabe made in Mexico, and not to be left out of the programe Camco is also part of the GE Mabe family so they are also a source to check with, and yes even whirlpool who is nothing to do with any of those other than a competitor sometimes has parts that will fit the Mabe made in Mexico. I'm not saying it will be a perfect fit but if it works, it works, but i'm not recomending you do it to a customers appliance at least not without asking if it's ok.
