Note the two RCA sockets marked with a red circle. That is the Tape input. Get a 3.5mm phono jack to 2 RCA cable shown below and connect your media player/ipod to the mixer using this cable. Remember to press the tape input switch on the mixer panel when you want to hear the media player.

Is there a way to hook a Mackie profx12 mixer to "this" Peavey PA?

We would need to know which Peavey PA you're asking about.

No sound

This is not a powered mixer and so you must connect a power amp to the "line level" outputs of the mixer. Other "no output" problems could be related to buss assignments and other signal routing issues. Check for output by connecting "Main Out" left or right to a guitar amp input instead BUT turn all volumes down to zero before conductiong this test as guitar amps are designed for "Microphone" level inputs. I have a mackie 24 channel mixer , I am trying to hook up my monitors. I need help I don't know how to do it. Recently lost our sound tech guy here at the church.

Decide if you want to use the AUX's or the SUB's for your monitors. (usually use the AUX).

Connect TRS cables from the appropriate AUX sends to thee amplifiers you use for your monitors or your powered monitors whichever you have.

Adjust the level using the AUX level controls for each channel to set your minitor mix.

Normally use the PreFader AUX's so monitor levels are set independent of the slide fader positions.

Here is a big hint for you: Search YouTube.com for "Soundboard" or "Soundboard setup". There are good videos there that might be different than your particular board, but there is enough commonality that you will soon be an expert!

I was trying to hook up our 1604 vlz3 at our church and was wondering how the best way to do this?

Without knowing the resources you are connecting I cannot give you a schematic but will give this GENERAL advice:

1. Use BALANCED lines to connect from the mixer to your amps, preferably XLR connections.

2. Service the power to the amps and the mixer from the SAME place even if it means stringing a power cable alongside you audio cable snake.

I just purchased a mackie 1604 vlz3 and am trying to figure out where all the parts and wires go to and how do i know if a trs is required or just mono ect... i have a compressor/effects/bbe/wireless mic/...

The user manual has fairly good diagrams.

Get user manual here:

http://www.mackie.com/products/1604vlz3/pdf/1604VLZ3_OM.pdf

On page 34 is the BLOCK layout which has everything you need to know, once you figure how to read it!!!

The Triangle symbols are operational amp/analog summing amps.

By looking at the jack symbols you can tell if they are mono or TRS.

A lot of the TRS ones will show a TRS three lead jack but have a resistor to ground. These can be used as mono's.

The TRS (stands for Tip-Ring-Sleeve) connectors are used in two ways. One is as a balanced input where both the signal and its inverse is used. A balanced line is far more noise free and ground loop free than an unbalanced line.

Another use of the TRS is for external effect insertion where the sleeve is ground and the tip is the signal SENT to the external effect box and the ring is the RETURNed signal from the effect box.

SOMETIMES you may have to make your own cables to get the signals where you want them on the connectors.

HINT: Use XLR connections wherever you can. More rugged, balanced and noise free- ground loop free.

I want to hook up a an interface to a mackie mixer. What is the common denoinator to hook up, let's say a digi 002 and a mackie mixer so i can have a mac computer with pro tools operational with also the...

you can just piggyback the mixers - take the outputs from the mackie mixer (assuming it is NOT a powered mixer) ... those should be line level outputs - send them into a line level input on the digi 002 and then set that channel on the digi 002 and once set, just leave it, and control the mackie channels individually ... should work fine ...
