Installed ceiling mount monitor to video output of head unit works fine except no color. I tried spdif and other settings on both head unit and monitor. Monitor worked fine when tested with another head unit.

yep already tried that. i know pal setting is black and white. i tried ntsc setting on both units, still nada. settings on both units only has pal, ntsc, and auto. any other suggestions would be helpful. i hope the problem is not in the head unit, times are hard. dont really want to spend more money on a new head unit. monitor is a visonik, i dont believe there should be a compatibility issue. i actually tested the monitor with a home dvd player prior to installation to check picture quality and color was fine. I also have experience in installations. so I'm always careful with my wiring etc. to prevent shorts and grounding. but far from being an expert, lol.

hi typical rca cables. on my unit there is video in/ video out / camera. I also plugged in another power acoustik dvd player, that I had as a spare. i splitted the output of this player to both the video in on the main unit and the monitor. essentionally using both players in tandem using same cables to monitor, in case of connection issues and now i have color to monitor. i guess i'll live with it for now. but original issue not resolved as of yet

hi , thanks for response. since my last post i connected another power acoustik player that a buddy had as a spare. the output of this player i split between the main unit video input and the monitor. essentionally running both players in tandem. now I have color on moniitor using the same cables. i agree with you that there is a common problem with rca cables getting loose. thats why i always bend the tabs inward slightly to increase tension and tape the connections to insure that they dont come apart when installing any components. as for the pal and ntsc settings, like i posted before i messed with settings both on the main unit and monitor and nada?? right now im running the second player to provide media to both screens. I guess i'll leave it fot the time being because it's giving me what i wanted ,yet original issue is not resolved. problem may be within the unit. any thoughts. thanks in advance

Sounds like the colorburst frequency is off.
I don't however have a schematic for this board
However somewhere not too far from that video out will be the circuit that generates the video.
This will usually be a 3.579545 MHz crystal or oscillator.
Close to this crystal will be an adjustment that usually looks like a Phillips screw head (very small though, and encased)
This adjustment will need to be tweaked either clockwise or counterclockwise until the color syncs up.
If you can provide good resolution snaps of the circuit board near the video out, or even better, near the colorburst crystal / oscillator pack then I can probably tell you where the adjustment is.
It's best to get a 12V source (like maybe a PC power supply or battery etc) to run it on a bench while making the adjustment. That way you can adjust til you lose color in both directions, and make your final adjustment as in the middle of where it loses sync in both directions.

Usually color production in units could be caused by a variety of things. The first being the media which was being played by the unit some media would automatically switch to black and white due to compatibilty issues between the player and the media.
Secondly when the cables are not properly connected they tend to produce black and white pictures check how well the cables can be fitted and fit it well. Thirdly the unit could have been shifted to be in the pal setup so look for the switch which controls pal and ntsc and push it to the ntsc part.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

LG 55LS4500 55 in. TV has sound through speakers, no audio except a hum from headphones and the optical digital to analog output fiber lights up but no sound output What board is bad?

Hi Louis,
The audio circuitry is located in the main board. Try unplugging the TV for a while and try again if the audio comes back.
I would suggest to check all your settings in the audio section first and if everything seems OK then the main board should be replaced.

There should be a menu option for orientation. The selection may be for ceiling vs standard. You have the unit set for ceiling mount.

Play dvd has no color

This is often the problem when the output is set incorrectly. i.e. you are using component cables and the output of the unit is set to video or such, try looking in set up on the menu screen and see id you can change the output.

The other time I have had this happen is when the RGB plugs were in the wrong hole.

Hope this helps you, Cheers, Rob

Video thru Onkyo TX-RS606 is only black&white

are you using HDMI cables or component. First I would try unplugging the composite and component video cables while the receiver is off. Plug them back in and turn it back on. If that does'nt work try setting the receiver to factory default and redo the settings. You can find how to reset to default in your user manual.

LaCie Photo20visionII monitor

Computer seems fine, Cable changed. but still the same. This is to expected, the monitor mounted controls are directed to monitor not part of the data input. Thus suggests a board failure in the Monitor. Just to prove the point if you have the monitor driver installed delete it and run as generic monitor. If things change reinstall the dedicated driver Though I suspect this is a monitor failure not computer related.
