Question about Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W530 Digital Camera

1 Answer

I would like to take pictures in different color modes with the Sony Cybershot W530. Am unable to locate any color setting in the menu. Is it there at all or do I need to go further into the settings? Very unusual that a digicam won't allow for pictures to be taken in different color modes.

The setup menu has all the modes possible for your model. Search it all and read the manual if necessary if the mode you want is not there you will have to edit the photo afterwards with such software as Photoshop or the free Picasa or Gimp.

That is correct. You can zoom in and out before starting the movie, but you cannot zoom while recording.

Hi my Sony DSC-W530 isn't taking black&white nor sepia pictures... is it the camera or can I find the setting, if I there is a setting where can I find it? Many thanks.

The DSC-W530 does not have black&white or sepia modes. Just about any photo editing program should allow you to convert color pictures to black&white. Doing it on a computer gives you much more control over things like brightness and contrast than letting a camera do it.

How do i set my DSC-S730 camera to black and white mode?

Select the "Color" submenu in the shooting mode menu, then select "B&W". Full details are in the "Shooting Menu" section of the Cybershot handbook (page 32 in my copy).

How can take black and white photo with sony cybershot DSC-W180?

Press the MENU button to display the menu screen. Use the arrows to select "Color Mode" and choose "B&W." Confirm by pressing the center of the multiselector. Press MENU to exit the menu screen.

In general you're better off shooting in color and converting to black&white on the computer. You get much better control over contrast, brightness, and other factors. You can try different conversions and see what works best for that particular picture. And you still have the original in color, just in case you decide it actually works better that way.

This site will take you to a free download location for a PDF version of your user manual for this camera. On page 60 it gives details on how to set up the "special effects" for b&w picture taking.

In Summary:

1.Set the mode selector to the "Camera" icon.

2. Press "Menu"

3. Select [PFX] (P. Effect) with the horizontal arrows

4. Select the type of effect with the vertical arrows

5. To cancel the picture effect in #3, select "off"

I hope this helps!

Sony DSC T77 How to Setup Black and white mode

Hi Allonsoma,

What the manual doesn't tell you is that you need to change the REC mode first to be able to fint the buttons in MENU.

Fist go into the REC mode (the one above menu when taking a photo). Change this to PGM and click OK. Now go into MENU, on the 3/4 page second button down should be a box with a + in the corner. This is the colour mode option. You can now change to vivid, sepia or black and white.

Hope this helps.
