washing machine not working at all, service light displaying red, then when turn on load, tries to start for about 5 seconds then completly stops and service light then comes on again.

    thanks

Any weight in the machine will cause it not to advance to next cycle. It will wash and then will not advance to rinse and the lights on the front go crazy. If I physically advance it to the rinse cycle after resetting the machine, it will start to rinse but again, will not advance. It will only do a low speed spin if I advance it to the spin cycle and then nothing. HELP! the "sevice technicians" have been here 5 times with no fixing of the problem.

Try this just in case it will be the same has mine
Do a visual inspection on the electronic module. To do this you need to removed it. Follow the manual instruction. I got the manual there. It's pretty big, about 44MB: https://secured.whirlpool.com/Service/SrvTechAdm.nsf/2cd44500d572193285256a45004fd9d6/07e2c9ebdcf04a3085256f38004f9b84/$FILE/WPWASHER1.pdf

I had the same kind of issue on mine, no spinning and occasionally it did not want to start. I decided to remove "electronic control module" and do quick visual inspection on the board.
I find out that the board was full of little (microscopic) lead (plumb). I cleaned it with a toothbrush and ALCOHOL on both side, re-installed it and since then the machine worked find... Finally after a year I have a working machine.
I think you should test this solution before spending $400 on a new "electronic control module".
Let others know if it work on your side too.

Hi, I have a Hotpoint WT761 washing machine that has stopped working. It fills ok and works on pump out, but will not wash or spin. The drum turns a little and then stops.

No agitation or spin? try these:

WATER PRESSURE SWITCH: This switch keeps your washer from overflowing. It is responsible for shutting off the power to the fill valve and redirects the power to the timer to start the washing machine running once the correct water level has been reached. Meter check ur water pressure switch?
You can test it with a meter and with a manual test? ( first locate it in the panel, it has a plastic clear tube hose going into it, remove that tube from its connection, now put another small tube or hose into the slot where it was and have the machine set to wash cycle with water in it. Blow into the other end of the tube.
If the machine starts to wash. the pressure switch is more than likely good
( No wash starts - then THE DIAPHRAGM IS BAD AND SWITCH HAS TO BE REPLACED) another test u can do is Remove the hose and submerge in water. Seal one end and blow air into the other end and look for bubbles. Check for an obstruction in the hose as well.
Or take the original hose tube and plug one end and blow into it AT the other end, it should be hard and have pressure, if it is easy to blow and u dont feel any pressure and it feels like the air is going out ?
Sometimes they get busted open or a pin hole and release air causing the water switch diaphragm to not open.

Motor Coupling If the washer won't spin or agitate the motor coupling might have failed. The motor coupling connects the motor to the washer transmission. It is designed to fail if the washer is overloaded in order to protect both the motor and
Drive Belt If the washer won't spin or agitate, check the drive belt. If the belt is broken or if it isn't tight on the pulleys the washer won't spin or agitate properly.

Drive Motor If the washer won't spin or agitate the drive motor might be defective. This is not common. Check all of the other related parts to this symptom before replacing the motor. If the motor is visibly burned out or physically damaged, replace it.

Stator Assembly If the washer won't spin or agitate the stator assembly might be burned out. The stator is essentially one half of a motor, it interacts with the tub by creating a strong electro-magnet. If the stator burns out the washer won't spin or agitate. Check the stator for continuity. This part is often misdiagnosed.

Transmission or clutch assembly not engaging due to going out or slipping.

Door or Lid Latch Assembly If the washer won't spin or agitate the lid switch assembly might be defective. This is a very common problem. The lid switch assembly can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any electrical switches with an Ohm meter for continuity. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Door Lock Motor and Switch Assembly If the washer won't spin or agitate the door lock assembly should be checked. The door lock can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any switches on the door lock with an Ohm meter. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Motor Control Board If the washer won't spin or agitate the motor control board might be defective. The motor control board provides power to the motor as well as direction and force. If the motor control board is defective the washer may not work at all or function properly.

CHECK THE CAM DOGS INSIDE THE AGITATOR, AS THEY WILL HINDER THE AGITATION PROCESS. However in G.E models the cam dogs are replaced with what is called an agitator coupler. (located at bottom of tub)
Remember to check the agitator spline as well for worn broken teeth.

By the way my advice is free cuz God is good!

BEKO WM5120W filling with water program clicking water draining but the drum does not turn belt is ok and pump

DOES IT AGITATE? SOUNDS LIKE A BAD MOTOR COUPLER OR DOOR SWITCH, ALSO A BAD WATER PRESSURE SWITCH WILL NOT ALLOW IT TO GO INTO WASH, HENCE NO SPIN OR WASH CYCLE? SOME MACHINES HAVE A BELT SAFTY SWITCH ON THE MOTOR, THAT MAY GO BAD AT TIMES ALSO AND SHUTS OFF ALL ACTIVITY

Haier XQJ50-31 drum quit agitating or spinning

If the timer stopped advancing on one of my machines (laundromat owner) i'd assume it's the timer motor. Kind of like when a top loader has no final spin but otherwise runs okay i always suspect the timer mechanism. For me it's a simple check; exchange timers with a neighboring machine. You probably don't have that option. Unfortunately, I don't know the Haier Brand of machines so i could be wrong.

Won'i\t spin or agitate. was working fine-went

Hi..

if agitator movement is weak or moves in only one direction check the following:

  • Inspect the agitator
  • Inspect the motor coupler
  • Inspect the drive belt(belt drive only)
  • Inspect under the washer for soot (clutch)
  • Test the motor
  • Inspect the pulley
  • Test the transmission
  • Inspect the pump coupling
If drum does not spin check this:

  • Test the lid switch
  • Test the timer control
  • Test the centrifugal switch
  • Test the water level switch
  • Inspect the motor coupler
  • Inspect the drive belt (belt drive only)
  • Inspect under the washer for soot (clutch)
  • Test the motor
  • Inspect the pulley
  • Test the transmission

Good luck !!!

The drum does not spin. the agitator works normally, then when time to empty the pump works, but an odor of the belt slipping is noticed and the drum will not spin. When lifted up to inspect the belts,...

seems to be a transmisson problem, the pump is driven by the motor also. so the motor should be ok. and the agitator works ok. believe it would be a transmission gear failure.

Not sure if manifold is leaking

Leaks water...check the pump first. The fill valve and hoses may be the next step. See how to take apart info. With the use of plastic drain hoses on many machines today, this has become a common leak trouble maker. The drain hose can rub the wall or a pipe and this will rub a hole in the drain hose.

WMA54 Hotpoint Aquarius drum does not turn during wash or spin

If the machine pumps water inside but does not start :

Start checking the lid switch, if this is stuck the machine wont start.

If the drum does not move at all, the motor, the motor control unit, the motor coupler, the control board may be faulty.

For more details , see: It doesn't spin
