Why is the upper sray arm is not working in kitchenaid model KUDR01TJ

There are 2 spray arms for the top rack. A small one on the dishwasher top and a bigger one attached to the bottom of the upper rack. Both get water feed from a flat tube that runs up the back wall of the dishwasher. Not much to the very top little arm--just check the spray holes for any food blockage and try to clean with a brush or tooth pick. The bigger arm on the bottom of the top rack gets its water feed through a hole about half way up the flat tube on the back wall. When you push the rack all the way in, it has to plug itself into that hole in the back wall. Check that plug in area and make sure nothing broke off that would keep it from making a good seal with the rack all the way in. All check all the holes in the spray arm for food blockages. On the very end of all spray arms is a main hole that is the drive hole to spin the spray arm. The water shoots out that hole and acts like a jet engine to push the arm around. Make sure those holes are clear.

It could be a motor or a pump issue. The dishwasher has a motor that attached to a pump which forces the water up into the sprayer arms and during the drain cycle, it pushes the water out of the dishwasher.
The motor (and pump) located beneath the dishwasher.
Check if motor spins. In case it spins, the problem is with the pump ,in case it doesn't spin it could be a motor problem or a motor and pump problem.

First of all: filter plate clean? Clean any locked hole.
1) Can you remove the upper spray-arm and verify if holes inside are locked by any residus. Clean the holes , and check if pure water come out when you fill the center hole with some water.
2) Switch on the dishwasher , coldest wash cycle dish-washer empty and without the upper spraying arm. Once you hear water streaming in, open the door and look if a little water fountain comes out from the center hole where the upper spraying arm was fixed. If not, this canalisation is blocked and should be cleaned. Try to continue the wash cycle, often the water pressure will clean itself this canal. Check also lower spray arm: it should be rotating a while and ejecting water thru its holes. If not, verify this canalisation as well.

3) Put the spraying arm again on its place, verify also the sealing else water pressure is going down and spraying will not turn and spray water.

4) Again, continu a wash cycle, open the door and look; upper arm should be rotating and some rays trown out.

Hopefully, this helps .

If not, pump pressure may be low; have a repair verify, can be that only brushes in the motor must be replaced, can be the pump worn out and to be replaced at all.

After the wash cycle is complete, a bunch of the soap is solidified and stuck in the soap drawer. And soap is smeared on some of the dishes. we are using cascade automatic dishawashing detergent. thanks

Greetings,
there is no water spraying into your soap area to wash it out...make sure the spray arms are not clogged..look to see if the holes in spray-arms are open, if not open them up...now , if okay, its possible little or no water is coming in...start d/w and see if water is entering tub. if so, its possible wash motor is bad just not spraying the water. clean out and sump area or screen.consult your manual for info on how to clean out if needed...if ok, check to see if wash motor is coming on..if it is then its defective and not moving water to sprayers

The dishwasher puts water but no water comes out the spray heads

Does the motor run? If so, then you need to tear to the deck everything below the lower spray arm (Note the order and position of everything removed). You will find a large screen at the bottom which is likely plugged with water and food deposits. Soak it in white vinegar and hot water for an hour or so, then scrub it clean. Make sure there are no holes or cracks in it. You are down to the pump area and need to look at all openings in the deck for plugging. There should be a small fan-like device that chops up food particles when the tub empties--make sure it turns. Check both spray arms for plugged small holes and for split seams. Put everything back together and give it a test run.

The rotating arms don't work

problem may be the spray arms blocked and this is not always apparant. they only rotate with water coming out of angled jets at the end. worthwhile taking the spray arms off, run water into the centre hole and see if anything comes into view
pump is an induction motor so normally would run at constant speed.

Top arm not spinning

only the top rack isnt getting clean?
there is a little plastic circle in the middle of the bottom of the upper spray arm. turn it counter clock wise to pull the upper spray arm from the upper rack. make sure that isnt clogged and the spray holes are not clogged. otherwise....

the piece that the bottem spray arm plugs into and runs along the back wall of the tank to the top is called a feed tube. pull the bottom spray arm out. now you can see the part of the feed tube that feeds the upper spray arm water. does it pop out freely and easily? if so then you need a new feed tube, if not then its most likely your not achieving the right water level or your impeller connected to your circulation pump(motor) is clogged not supplying enough water pressure to travel up the feed tube to spin the upper spray arm.

No water inside

your bottom spray arm has holes where the water shoots through , make sure they are not clogged.Check upper spray arm also, remove any matter that is blocking the openings and run rinse aid through your D/W at all times. Hint : Glass Magic is a D/W product out in Markets ,if you can run that through the D/W your going to save alot of headaches . Please rate this !
