Hello Zub,

It's most likely a fault with the control module or the drain pump. Please follow these instructions to detemine the likely cause of the fault and, therefore, what to do next:

1. Turn the programme selector to any wash cycle but don't press start.
2. Open the door and pull out the lower rack
3. If the washer is dry, pour roughly a pint of water into the sump in the bottom of the washer
4. Locate the float (the mushroom) and lift it . . .

Hello I have a Bosch dishwasher model no: - belectric_178.jpg
When the float is fully lifted (about 3/4 of an inch) the drain pump should start and drain any water from the washer. This activates the anti-flood safety feature and the pump should continue to run as long as the float is lifted. The power supply to the drain pump bypasses the controller so this is the best way to determine if the drain pump is faulty.

If the water drains when you lift the float . . .

The drain pump is working but it's not receiving the signal to start from the controller during a wash cycle. It may be a wiring problem, but more likely that your control module will likely need to be repaired or replaced. These cost about £100 - if you replace it yourself.

If you can hear the pump humming but water does not drain when you lift the float . . .

There may be a blockage somewhere or the pump impeller may have jammed or broken away from the driveshaft. Try lifting and dropping the float rapidly about 10-20 times. Repeated stop/start signals to the pump motor can free a stuck impeller.

If nothing happens when you lift the float . . .

There is either no power to the pump motor or, more likely, the pump motor has failed. You will need to test the motor to determine whether or not it needs to be replaced. You will need a Torx T20 screwdriver or screwdriver bit to remove the kickplate under the door and an ohm / multi-meter to test the motor.

The drain pump motor should give a resistance reading of between 110 and 260 ohms across the live/hot and neutral/common terminals if the motor is good. In most cases, the reading is about 160-170 ohms.

I'd suggest testing the drain pump using the float as detailed above, then let me know the results. I'm happy to provide further assistance once the likely cause of the fault has been determined.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
BElectric

How do we put it through a test mode?

Here you go, both answers :>)
Bosch Dishwasher Troubleshooting Your Bosch dishwasher can run a test cycle which will quickly go through each stage of a wash programme in order to find out at what point a fault is occurring. It will only give you a general idea of where the problem lies but is a useful first step in diagnosing the issue.

The steps to start the test cycle vary depending on what model you have but the basic method is similar across the range. It might be that your dishwasher doesn't have the same button labelling as described in the steps below. In that case try holding down the buttons which have similar names. After a little trial and error you'll find the right combination.
  • Make sure the dishwasher is switched off.
  • Press and hold the Power Scrub Plus and Regular Wash buttons.
  • Turn on the dishwasher, then release the two buttons.
  • The light above each of these buttons should flash.
  • Start the test cycle by pressing the Power Scrub Plus and Regular Wash buttons again.
  • The test programme will begin and an error code will be displayed at the end of the cycle if a fault has been detected.
You can find a list of Bosch dishwasher error codes and their definitions here.

How to run self test on bosche dishwasher

Here is an excerpt from "Bosch Dishwasher Troublesoooting".

Running a Test Cycle
Bosch dishwashers have a test cycle which can be run as a troubleshooting measure. The method to run this test cycle is similar across the Bosch dishwasher range so if your dishwasher features seems different from those described below then try experimenting, as the process is fairly straight forward and will be very similar. Bosch dishwasher model numbers are usually found around the top or lip of the door. One of the most common differences between dishwasher models is simply the names of the buttons. For example in the first example below, POWER SCRUB PLUS and REGULAR WASH may be called WASH and ECO depending on your dishwasher model and the country you are in. The other key difference is whether your dishwasher has a display panel (which can display error codes) or not (in which case a program light will illuminate to tell you the fault.
To run the test cycle hold down the POWER SCRUB PLUS and REGULAR WASH buttons. Whilst held down press the ON/OFF button. The lights above them should flash. Now you can check the status of each dishwasher program by pressing its button. Now you can run the full test cycle = Press the POWER SCRUB PLUS and REGULAR WASH buttons again. The dishwasher will start up and when the cycle has ended one, if you have no display panel on your dishwasher model the indicator lights will illuminate if a malfunction was detected as follows -
CLEAN - A temperature sensor fault. If this is the case then the test cycle will be very short as the dishwasher will terminate the test once it's been detected.
RINSE/DRY - A water sensor/filling fault. If this is the problem then the test cycle will not complete as the dishwasher cannot detect the right level of water, the dishwasher will just keep filling and draining again.
WASH - A heating fault. Check your heating element.
If you do have a display panel on your Bosch dishwasher then after the cycle is complete an error code will be shown if a fault has been detected. The error codes are as follows -
0 - No errors have been detected.
1 - A water sensor/filling fault.
2 - A heating fault.
4 - A water filling fault. This can also appear as F on the display during a normal cycle.
8 - A temperature sensor fault.
When troubleshooting your Bosch dishwasher, running the above test cycle is a good start in diagnosing the problem and should give you an idea of where the problem lies with your Bosch dishwasher and what fixes and repair are in order. Our general troubleshooting page will give you some ideas on other things to check on your dishwasher. Good luck!

Hello. when I turn dishwasher on - on any programme - all I hear is the sucking noise of the machine draining. No programme will start.

sounds like you either have a bosch and or a LG. is this right? if so you probably have a leak under the dishwasher. and that is why it keeps draining. it is a feature designed so it doesn't flood your floor. you can take the kick panel off and stick your hand in the pan to feel for moisture.

Diswasher will not fill clock stays at 130 an

This is either a fill fault or a heater fault, for fill fault check side fill chamber is not blocked with fat, for heater check heater, if heater does not activate then the fault is on the PCB programmer, this model often suffers from faulty soldered connections on the pcd, remoce and inspect if required resolder joint.
