I have a mountian bike that is missing the part were the pedal goes but not on the chain part


Missing? Like fell off - or was never there? Do some search engine stuff and find out what that part is called. Maybe 'crank''? Then ask someone at a Local Bike Shop to fix you up. No one sells just one crank.

The front suspension is messed up and i dont know how to deal with it? right now its said to be in first gear but the chain is in 2nd and once i change it to 2nd gear the chain ends up being on the 3rd...


I think you might be confusing some terminology.

The Front "suspension" is the fork assembly that holds your front wheel and goes up and down. The shock absorber or suspension.

The part in the middle of the bike that the chain changes between 1,2 and 3 gears is the crankset and relates to the front shifting. The shiftlever on the left of the handlebars would be the part that indicates the 1, 2 or 3 numbers.

To get the front derailleur (changer) to shift into the proper gears the cable must be under the correct tension and limit stops adjusted correctly. Shift the lever into the #1 position and check the cable tension. is it very loose? can you wiggle it easily side to side or up and down? if yes, then you need to tighten the cable by loosening the bolt at cables attachment of the derailleur and then pulling out the slack, tighten the bolt again and check your shifting . If that does not work then take the bike into a bike shop and have them look at it, something too difficult to explain may be happening.

How do i install a chain for my mongoose


Here is a quick video that does a decent enough job of explaining how to install the chain on a bike similar to yours.

Note: you need to have the special bicycle tool that installs and removes links from your chain. If you do not have one, and this is something you don't plan on doing again, it will be less expensive to have your local bike shop fit your chain than buying the tool.

My bike chain has a bunch of kinks in it - I can't figure out why


Try to soak it in Diesel fuel that will clean any small dirty between links and will lubricate chain.

I'm cleaning my MTB chain. I removed it from the front chain guard by taking out a screw. Now, it's all kinked up, and I can 't get them out.


a bicycle chain cannot be removed from the bike without breaking the chain using a special chain break tool or if the chain has a special link called a quick link that snaps apart. However, to clean a chain it does not need to be removed from the bike. Some degreaser, a stiff brush and some water as all that needed to clean the chain, then follow the cleaning with some good bicycle chain lube.

I Have a 5speed Broadmoor mountian bike cannot adjust gears any suggestions


When you say adjust, do you mean shift or do you mean adjust? You should start with the easiest solution: give your drivetrain a really thorough bath by using Simple Green and a brush to clean it really well, then lubricate your chain with the proper chain lube. I know this is a maintenance question but I'm looking for a little local information. I went to clean my chain yesterday and noticed that it's way too long. There's a bit of kinking too so it's time to get a new chain. The chain maintenance info on this board seems pretty detailed and doesn't look too hard (lol perhaps I should mention that I'm a noobie and haven't worked on my bike much yet). Should I attempt this on my own? Any suggestions where in TO I should get the chain and tools? Or should I take the bike to Rev Cycle (any rough estimates on price)?,Depending on your skill and comfort level you can probably tackle this job OK, here are some rules (I'm making up early Saturday morning without the benefit of coffee) Buy the best quality chain you can buy, (x or o ring) If the chain is screwed chances are your sprockets are too (yeah I know $$$) It's a good time to go up in the rear or down in the front (sprocket teeth, don't do both) if your bike has a single swing arm forget it (tools stands etc too much hassle adjusting probably not worth it just take it too the dealer unless your very determined and are investing in the tools and time etc) otherwise no biggee. Now so your chain lasts don't over adjust, unsprung the chain will appear loose get some else to sit on the bike as you check the chain tension all the way through the suspension travel check chain and sprocket alignment (laser, eye ball whatever) sometimes shims or other pieces go missing (especially when chain have kinks or wear prematurely) chain wax is your friend, lube it hot and use a clean rag to get excess and clean sprockets.,,,
