Question about JBL Music

Flood from large cement construction flood above my studio: A big "construction" flood above my studio....It literally rained super corrosive fluids thru the unsealed cement of my ceiling, porous & seepage. I wasn't informed & just came back after a month of recordings to jam.. It was at least 7-14 days before I found it & was 2 months until the speaker cabs could be safely removed... Speakers magnet housings are rusted, the speakers are water marked/stained : thus I'm in a insurance dispute. They had both direct contact to these fluids & high humidity Doesn't it make sense a full re-cone should be the proper remedy. I haven't used them since but I know they still work, but using them for VDrums & synths makes it very tough use on them. Thanks for any opinions & ideas/resources....rock & rool.....

If the fluids actually wetted the cones they should be replaced. Humidity probably would not damage the cones if they dried out before use. If the cabinets are badly stained the units should be totally REPLACED at the insurance expense. For musicians, the appearance of equipment is important as well as operation. Stand your ground... and do NOT use them as that shows some value that they would even operate after this situation. If they won't replace, threaten loss of income recovery as well. Be tough...

I'm trying to find the age of a piano. Modern upright, bears the brand name Mahler, with a serial number RD54077. value not an issue.

The Mahler is a Lindner. Just take off the black label on the wrest plank, turn it over and it generally says Lindner!.
Mind you they are fine pianos with the wooden keys( ducks behind steel shutters and dons stab-proof kevlar)
Lindners were the most forward looking and innovative pianos of the late 20th. miles in front of anything else and were the only advance in piano design and construction since Erard's double repetition action in 1857 ( Hope I don't get a Fatwa).

Unfortunately, the materials were largely #### but the idea was fantastic and however much people moan, they were the only technician -friendly concept ever.Space the hammers- two seconds with a wide screw driver. Level the keys? turn a screw under. If some of the more pompous makers were not to snooty to take tips, they could learn much from the late, largely unlamented Lindners.

What can I do about my flood-damaged monitors?

I would strongly suggest putting an insurance claim and replacing them. Water damaged cabinets may swell and come unsealed over time, as well as the speakers themselves and the electronics degrading faster than you might expect.

I need a fuse for an Epiphone Studio 15R amplifier. Where could I find one to buy?

Fuses are universal. The only unique issue you may have is that amps usually have a "slow-blow" fuse. Take the old fuse to Radio Shack first and if this does not get you the fuse you need you will be able to get one on Ebay, Amazon and if you live in a large city a decent stereo repair business can help you.

Hi! I just recived a Lexicon Alpha desk top and i cannot find the actavation code. Therefore i cannot activate the recorder "i guess" or can i?

There is no activation code. You will need software that handles I/O sound device other than the built in audio of the PC. This device is sometimes delivered with either Sonar home edition or CuBase.

Pls, i will like to know how i can get a pro sound with my beringer b2pro mic with my xenyx 1204usb mixer. i mean mic settings

The mic will give very good sound assuming you put it in a studio environment and have no speakers being driven by it that the mic can "hear" or it will feedback instantly.

Your studio should have proper sound deadening on the walls ceiling and floor. There is a lot of information on the web about setting up a studio. Search for it with google. The more studio-like the environment, the more like pro sound you will get. You will NOT get pro-sound in a bare garage or a room in a house without handling the sound reflections in the room. These mics hear EVERYTHING... they are a high quality mic.

The spongy bit has come off. Can we fix it?

Yes, assuming the spongy part has not deteriorated, get some contact cement and follow the directions. Coat the metal and the spongy with a thin coat of the cement. Let dry till tacky and then carefully press the spongy into place. Make sure you get it straight as once the glue touches it grabs. Start one end and then roll it down into place.
If the spngy part has deteriorated, find new material and apply as above.

Lexicon alpha does not install with XP SP1a, error = "Cannot start device code (10)" Drivers from disk are installed, device is listed in device manager with a yellow exclamation point. Do i need...

You should be at SP2, but that MAY NOT be the problem. One thing to check is if you are supposed to have the device connected when you install the software... in SOME cases doing it with or without connection will affect the outcome. Also make sure ALL virus/spyware/popup blockers are disabled during install.

Before using this device, make sure that going to the control panel and looking at the "Sounds and Devices" shows that the Lexicon is the inout and output device for all the tabs within that window.

Very loud ground hum when turned on

If nothing is pluged into the speaker and it makes that noise. It is not a ground problem. You either have a blown amp or remotely some bad connection at the large filter caps.

I have a pair of Behringer B2031A Active Studio Monitor. All is functioning perfectly and automatic power is set to off. . After 5 minutes on, one monitor shut off unexpectly, which is not to be suppose...

This sounds like an internal failure, probably something overheating since it takes time to recover. Behringer OFTEN puts thermistors to sense temp on heatsinks that shut down in the event of overtemp.

If you are not electronically adept, best to take this in for repair. If you are able to work on electronics, try using circuit cooler to isolate the failure. First a good visual inspection followed by the finger test searching for hot components... Do use care where high voltages are involved, mainly in power supplies and input power leads, etc..
