Question about Fujitsu MHV2040BH 40 GB SATA Hard Drive

1 Answer

Have Fujitsu MVH 2040 BH hard drive making a steady, low level noise similar to static. Its not that loud but it was not there before. It also occasionally makes a fairly loud single chirp noise that sounds like a bird. The drive is 4 years old. Its in an HP Compaq Presario V3000 laptop. The drive is well maintained with regular defrags. Free space is 55%. Drive is kept clean with regular use of Ccleaner. CHKDSK is also used regulary as well. Average temp of the drive is between 45 to 55 degrees Centigrade. The untilities I have installed to monitor drive health all say the drive is healthy. There are no bad sectors. The computer works fine with no problems. Response to user input is good with snappy speed. Is there anything I can do short of replacing the drive?? I really don't have the cash for a new computer nor even the cash for a new hard drive. Any suggestions to possibly remedy this?? PS; I have all my data backed up via Mozy. Thank You for your assistance!!!

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electic extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error
hope this helps

Transmission making loud grinding/sucking sound, doesn't go when in drive or reverse

Is it an automatic John? When was the last time you checked the level of your ATF (automatic transmission fluid)?

There are many different types, so make sure you get the right one.

If it is a manual shift, check the gearbox oil level. If that is OK, you need a transmission specialist. Look in Yellow Pages.

My external hd makes a constant, loud noise

Back up your files and buy a replacement drive the grinding noise is the hard drive experiencing mechanical failure and may stop working soon.

Hi,I turned on my Marshall mg series 100 dfx and there is no sound, just static comes on.Its starts with a kinda bad feedback sound than turns to loud static.

I suspect the power supply for the effects processor has failed. The effects unit will "go crazy" when power supply is too low voltage.

If the amp has loud noise, then the power amp portion is PROBABLY OK.

I had a similar problem in a Behringer amp caused by a bad electrolytic filter cap.

i would check the blades on the condenser fan motor and make sure they are not hitting anything if they are not, spin the fan see if the fan spin freely, it should, if it doesn't it could be the bearing in the motor are dry and going bad
