Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

The Service manual is here:
http://www.generatoremporium.com/pdf/IG6000-service.pdf

Since you stated that you had no 240V output... Perform the alternator winding tests para 2 - 6 on page 12 of the above link. Hopefully this test passes! Do this first.

This is straight out of the service manual: (pdf page 16)
b. The engine speed does not increase when smart throttle is on and load is increased.
Check the AC output
?abnormal
Perform the generator troubleshooting flowing the instruction of "No or Low AC output

There are more troubleshooting steps after the above. The usual suspects are the stepping motor and the smart throttle switch.
The stepping motor resistance checks are on page 27

Also make sure to perform the diode checks on 30 and 31.... (Voltage regulation and charging)

What they do not tell you is that an inverter generator uses a capacitor as part of the voltage regulation and a bad capacitor or.... hot terminals on the capacitor wires where it routes to the stator can stop all voltage output. Often the signs of a failed capacitor are... what appears to be candle wax directly under it or... the capacitor(s) are swollen in the terminal area.

You have everything you need to determine what the problem is by using the manual. If you have more questions at a later time ask away. I will gladly help you.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Hi Peter, Glad you got the information. I have to respond within 4 hours of any response you have. The only reason I am responding now is to stop the site 4 hr Expert response clock. The way the site is designed after 4 hrs your post would get bumped to another expert. There is no need for you to respond to this unless you have questions or more infromation to share. Can a sunny boy inverter work with a 10kv Generator?

First I assume that you thinking about kVa not KV? or you really have 10000 Volts generator?

why would you like to add inverter? Considering your setup there is no need for inverter.
the only way you need inverter is when you have dedicated battery bank. This way system would work this way. On sunny day you produce electricity to feed your house and charge battery bank using charger/inverter. Once solar panels atop producing electricity during night system automatically switches to inverter mode and you start using power from batteries. Once batteries goes low then generator kicks in and supply power to home and recharge batteries. Without dedicated batteries there is no use for inverter

Can voltage on Powermate be adjusted?

yes
the adjustment is by the rpm setting on the governor spring
thee is a nut that you adjust the spring tension with and lower the rpms and watch the voltage gauge until you get the desired voltage
if the load is going to be constant but is well within the rated capacity( example 2kva of a 6.5 kva set) of the gen set then the variation when the load comes on will be less than 5 volts
however if the power required is close to the max capacity of the gen set ( example 4.5kva of a rated 5 kva set) , then turn the unit on and adjust the rpms up to the required voltage required
remember that an advertised kva is not the rated kva
rated kva is what the gen set will produce all day and is normally around 1kva less than advertised kva
so if you have a 6.5 kva gen set ,it will handle current peaks to 6.5 kva but will burn out if required to run long time at that load
if the gen set is 1000 watts then rated watts will be less ( 750-800) for long time use

Just bought a s8000 3phase, straight petrol pramac generator, can I run my large 3 phase mixer and a 240v hand whisk at the same time?

Look at the name plate ratings on your devices, they should give you the KVA load of the device. Add all of these up. If the load exceeds the output of the generator, then it wont work

Yamaha EF4500Ise Gennerator won't produce power.

Doe's it have a thermal couple on it? If so it could be bad and when it heats up it is killing your power.

I have a coleman super mach a/c thinking of buying a 2 kva gennie **** need to know if it will run a/c 7000 .we dont know the watts on the a/c

Best to call or e-mail Coleman and ask. You need to have a 15% power cushion available for the A/C when the compressor comes on as it creates a slight power surge. Have the Genie power supply specs handy.

I have a Yanmar 4.5 KVA Generator running into a Trace 2.5 KVA inverter/charger, the inverter requires 205-220volts to operate, once the inverter connects the voltage drops on the genny over a ten second+-...

try adjusting the gen voltage at no load to run at 240 volts
when the load comes on it will drop back to 220-235 volts
check the load output from the inverter as 2.5 kv is nearly 80% of the genset duty cycle
4.5 KV is start up KV and the duty KV is around 3..8 kv not the plated 4.5 kv
to get constant 4.5 kv you will need a 5.5-6 kv unit
if the current draw from the inverter is excessive , the engine may not have enough in reserve to over come the load and will not pick up the rpms
take the gen set and the inverter to a shop that has a calibrated load bank to test accurate power output to determine if the engine needs an overhaul

Sir after changing the battery ups worked well one day and the next day onwards when i pressed the switch red and amber lights blinking and the upc trips with beep sound .kindly give the solution

Batteries in the UPS typically last 3 to 5 years and it depends upon several factors. including the number of times the unit must go on battery power and environmental conditions. There are usually several batteries in the UPS and while the battery voltage may show 13 volts, this may only be a float charge/voltage and a true indication of the battery voltage and condition requires the batteries to be tested under a load. There maybe one battery in a set of batteries that is faulty and causes the whole battery system to fail and indicate a battery fault.

These lower powered and cheaper KVA type UPS are switch over types, when the mains supply fail, the UPS switches over to the inverter in milli-seconds which then supplies mains power but the power waveform is a pseudo sine wave (ie not a true sinewave. A faulty inverter circuit won’t deliver power when the mains supply fails.

The true UPS types are usually the higher KVA units (over 1500 VA) that supplies uninterrupted mains power. The mains power is connected to a charger which charges the batteries and the inverter draws power from these batteries and converts it to true sine wave mains power therefore there is no switch over time lag from the mains to the battery.

Power inverter pc 500 once u put power to it the red light comes on and beeps but no a/c power

Hi there
Not a great solution but makes sense.
the ac adaptor for your alienware probably says input 240V ac 1.5Amps whilst the inverter can output 175W= 240V ac at 0.73Amps.
I am surprised it actually worked, i had to buy a 300W inverter to run my laptop. would suggest you do the same.
inverter is probably toast now anyway.
