Water dispenses, but no ice

I have water flowing through to the door, but the ice maker is not making ice and doesn't appear to have water flowing to it. Also, there is water on the floor under the unit.

There may also be another cause. I had a problem with the temperature rising in my Samsung RS2534WW freezer, water showing up underneath, and the ice becoming rather slushy. I called Samsung, and they contracted a repair service to check it out.

In my case, here's what had happened: at the bottom of the cooling section (behind the huge cover at the back of the freezer), there is a very small drain, where condensation goes after the evaporator kicks in (to keep the cooling section from icing over). My drain had gotten clogged.

With a clogged drain, the evaporated ice (now water) was pooling... then freezing. Eventually so much ice built up that the cooling unit could no longer work properly.

A hair dryer did the trick and I was able to remove the ice buildup. I also tested the drain to make sure it was working by pouring a few glasses of hot water down it - I knew that if the water didn't freely pass, then my drain was still clogged.

I'm still keeping an eye on the freezer to make sure it's behaving, but that was definitely the problem in my case.

There could be two [roblems with the ice make. #1 the line that feeds the water into the ice maker could be frozen inside where it dumps water into the maker. Take a hair dire and gentl thak pout the inlet line tha tthe water feeds into the maker. then reate that maker so that all the blockage is cleared. or #2 tej freezer need to be coolder. Don't rate these solutions unitl your problems are resolved because then i cannot post in the problem any more and also be sure too rate the so]lution after ypour problems are solved and rate accordingly. and gernerouosly. thanks for using FixYa.

Ice machine not working

Ice dispenser doesn't work
  1. Dispenser control board
If the ice dispenser is not functioning at all the most likely cause is going to be the dispenser control board. The dispenser control board governs the major portion of the systematic functions of the dispenser and is less likely to be the issue if only certain components are malfunctioning. If the dispenser control board is at fault, it will need to be replaced.
  1. Water inlet valve & low water pressure from house supply
If the ice dispenser on your refrigerator is not working properly, one of the first things to consider as an issue is the water pressure to your appliance. The ice dispenser cannot properly function with a psi less than 20. If psi is appropriate, proceed to replace the water inlet valve to correct the issue. You may also be dealing with low household water pressure. This low flow can be examined by using a water pressure test gauge. Once the household water pressure is resolved, you can double check your refrigerator connection to ensure it is now flowing properly and that the ice dispenser is functioning.
  1. Water tube in door is frozen
If the ice dispenser is not working on your refrigerator, the issue could be a frozen water supply tube located in the door. Although this may be a tricky problem to locate, the first thing to do is find a connection point in the tube. After this has been found, attempt to blow air through the tube. If the air flows freely through the tube, it is not frozen and this is not the issue. If it does not, the tube is frozen and needs to be removed to thaw out. As it thaws, attempt to ascertain why it froze and correct the positioning of the tubing to prevent the issue from occurring again in the future.
  1. Dispenser switch
If the refrigerator ice dispenser is not working properly you could be dealing with a defective dispenser switch. Activated by the dispenser actuator, the switches are responsible for numerous actions including ice cube disbursement, type of ice, and water controls. The switch can be tested using an ohm meter and should be replaced if it does not reveal continuity.
  1. Door switch
If the refrigerator ice dispenser is not working, the functionality of the door switch can be inspected. This switch is responsible for turning on the light in the freezer and simultaneously turning off the ice dispenser when the freezer door is opened. If this switch malfunctions, it will show no continuity on the ohm meter and will require replacement.
Ice maker not functioning or producing ice cubes
  1. Check connections
Check all hose connections to ensure that water is being transmitted through your appliance and there is no frost build up.
  1. Feeler arm
Double check to make sure your feeler arm is not stuck or that ice cubes are not blocking the feeler arm's motion to produce more ice.
  1. Ice maker heater
The heater may be stuck on. The heater comes on for 1-2 minutes to break cubes free from mold. If the heater stays on too long ,the ice maker will get hot and stop making ice. Carefully feel around the ice maker mold; if it is hot to the touch, the heater is on. This indicates that the ice maker is jammed, and it is better to replace ice maker than to try and repair it.
  1. Water inlet valve
The water valve supplying the ice maker is a key component of the ice-making system. When the ice maker calls for ice, its switch closes an electrical circuit and energizes the solenoid-operated water valve. This allows water to flow through the valve and into the ice cube tray. The water is frozen into cubes, and the cubes are dumped into the ice bin. When this part is not operating correctly, a repair/replacement part may be needed. There should be a plastice hinge cover on the left top hinge on freezer door. Take it off and press the plug together firmly. Try that and let me know, Sea Breeze

Ice maker not working

Ice makers have a heating element to thaw the inlet and allow water to flow into them perhaps the heater is broken and it can't get water to make ice. Check the hopper to be sure it has ice in it. If it does check it for obstructions from the hopper to the door.

How to make the ice maker work

Problems with Ice Maker/Water Dispenser
If you are not getting ice, make sure the water valve is open and the ice shutoff switch or arm is not in the "Off"
position. Inspect the ice ejector arm for blockage and remove any trapped ice with a plastic spoon. If you recently
emptied the ice container, remember that it takes your refrigerator up to 24 hours to produce ice.
Low water pressure is the major cause of problems with the water/ice door dispenser. Low water pressure can cause
inadequate water flow and small or hollow ice cubes. Check the water line for kinks that may interfere with water
flow and make sure the water valve is open. A dirty water filter can color the water and ice cubes, impede water
flow or cause water to have an off taste so remove, clean and replace it.
If water is leaking from the door dispenser, make sure the water glass remains under the spout until the water
shuts off completely. If you recently changed the water filter, air that was left in the line may cause water to
spurt from the dispenser. To flush the water line, let water run from the dispenser for approximately three minutes
or until you draw out 1.5 gallons of water. Try to find a container that will fit under the dispenser spout so you
do not have to start and stop to empty the container.

Have a nice day my friend : )

If there is a reset button on your ice maker try pushing it. Many ice makers have two holes for reset. A general rule of thumb is if the ice maker fingers are stopped in a slightly vertical position then your ice maker unit is working. If the fingers are stopped anywhere else then it needs some sort of attention or replaced. Make sure there is water, or ice in the ice maker tray, if not then the problem is with water supply.
