Yes, this cd unit is broken and must be replaced. Luckily it's a cheap part, you can get a similar one at every IT shop for less than $25.

Fix DVD/CD ROM to work Acer M1610, Computer not detecting DVD/CD ROM. No drive is seen how to fix this, what are my options. OS is Vista

Hi rossclark3,

Try to check the jumper settings of your DVD/CD ROM if it is properly assigned as Master or Slave.
Afterwards, also check the cable connecting the DVD/CD ROM to the motherboard.
Finally, restart your PC and check the BIOS Setup if it can already detect your DVD/CD ROM.

Hope this helps you a lot.

Thank you for using FixYa!

How can i downlord song in cd

You have burn the cd as a Audio cd. All you need a blank cd and a nice cd burning tool such as Nero.

Just install the Nero onto your system, then put the cd in and click on Make Audio cd on Nero and follow the on screen instructions.

Thanks !!

My cd rom desk will not open! How can I fix this?

When you say CD-ROM doesn't open. Then i'd say check 2 ways..

Turn on the computer and let be in BIOS screen then try to open tray, if its open there is no problem in H/W part, else the issue is with CD-ROM.

If its not opening after OS boots, then you need to really try be deleting the UPPER FILTERS & LOWER FILTERS keys in registry settings.

CD rom drive wont open!!!

Hi, it only means that the drive is already damage and you need to contact the manufacturer of your computer and verifiy if your computer is stil under warranty so that they can replace the drive with no additional cost but for some reason if you have physically damage the drive then you will be charge for the said repair so it depends on the warranty of the computer.

Hope this helps!!!

Thanks

HP PC will not boot up

the first thing that i would do is see if you can go into safe mode and try booting from there . when it comes up choose the one that is already hilighted. if it still wont boot then open up the tower and unplug the power from the cd rom. if it is your cd rom i would go and by another one or return the cd rom.

hope this works
