You need to service your carb. it has a bowl on the bottom of the carb. it should have a screw or a nut holding the bowl in place some of the new ones have a spring clip. anyhow take it loose and there is some holes in the bolt that need to be cleaned out if tou dont have anything small enough homedepot and lowes sell a tip cleaning kit for cutting torches and it has some tiny wies that will work . some carbs have a screw in the middle of the hole after you take off the bolt look in the center and if it looks like a flat head brass screw then you can un screw that peice to and clean it thos tiny holes get cloged real fast get som carb cleaner and clean everything and the bowl it only takes gas 30 days to oxyzadize and it will leave behind a yellow scale like plaque on your teeth and will foul up the whole thing . keep note when removing the bowl one side is lower so keep it the same direction when removing it will allow the float to settle down right to allow the gas to flow into the bowl. the float has a little valve that has a rubber tip on it and it can get stuck and not work right if things seem clean and still runs funny get a carb kit from truvalue o a lawn epair shop get all info off side of motor . when installing bowl if you have a screw with a spring out the bottom of bowl screw all the way inn then turn back out 2 1/2 turns to adjust proper flow if screw is on side of carb turn same amount if too much gas is idling rough turn screw in some hope this helps

Locate the drain plug on the bottom or side of the engine (might have a drain pipe attached to it) remove plug let oil completely drain screw off filter and replace (if equipped) refer to manual or Google and find out how much oil the engine holds (maybe around a quart) replace oil check for leaks and go mow your grass

Does the mower die right away (cuts out) or does it sputter to a halt. Sputtering out would indicate a fuel problem. If it just cuts out when hot, then more likely an ignition problem. Your coil may need replacing. Take a close look at the coil wire (spark plug wire) and its routing. Make sure it's not touching part of the engine where it's heating up and has caused a "leak" to ground it out when it gets hot. If all is well then check your spark when the engine is hot and cuts out. Make sure you have a very good blue spark and not a weak one (check it cold first and then compare!). Again, indicating a possible ignition coil problem. Hope this helps and best of luck to you.

2010 model 20 hp Briggs motor. Fuel going through fuel line, but not going into carberator. Motor runs good for about 15 min, but after heating up this fuel problem starts. After cooling down for an...

Two things:
1 Is fuel coming out of the fuel line. Older mowers have old fuel lines and they tend to get weak and collapse went they warm up with engine heat. Replace the old fuel line.
2 deposits in the carb. take off the air cleaner, start it up and spray a good carb cleaner in the carb until the engine dies. Put some 'seafoam' in the gas and a little in the oil and put the air cleaner back on and start the mower and mow on FULL THROTTLE. this should claen out the carb. Yes the mower will run rough for awhile.

these two cheap fixes will solve 85 % of carb problems. GOOD LUCK

It could easily be an electrical issue, or not. Get a spark tester (hooks up to the spark plug). Pep boys, Autozone, and Napa all sell them for less than $10. Check for spark when the mower has quit. If no spark, most likely need to replace the ignition module. Also check the flywheel key, if it is has been sheared or even knicked, the engine will run hot.
If you still have spark when engine has failed, check the vent on the gas cap. A clogged vent will cause a vacuum to form in the tank and stall the engine.
Good luck!

Starts runs then dies. will start again in 20 min,

Simple thing is to check the filters..air & fuel. Good chances is if it is not in the carburetor then its the coil. www.nnyparts.com

Husqvarna 323L gas trimmer runs & starts great but looses power after 10-15 min and if you give it gas it dies. let it cool and it runs great for another 10-15min. trimm has less than 5 hours

You have a clogged gas cap. Try this: The next time you run your trimmer and it starts to die, loosen the gas cap. It should start running again. It sounds too good to be true, doesn't it?! Well, give it try. Clear the breathing holes form debris, or buy a new gas cap.

Mower won't stay running

brad, if it runs for a bit and dies it has to be a fuel problem. i would take the carburetor off and clean it real good with carburetor cleaner. go ahead and put a rebuild kit in it. they are fairly cheap. check the fuel lines that they are not dry and cracked. blow out the fuel filter or replace. blow out the fuel tank make sure it is flowing correctly. some have screens in the bottom that plug up. the 2 wire thing on the bottom of the bowl is a fuel shut off valve. if the key is turned off it will push up on the needle stopping the flow of fuel. a anti back fire valve. gently pull up on the black piece you will see sticking up in the bowl. if it comes off easily it will need replaced or cut off. it may be coming off while running causing it to run out of fuel and die. after it sets for a second it looses its suction and falls back in position letting fuel back in the carburetor so it will run for a few more minutes . dont pry it or pull it off just be sure it is not loose.
