You should have a fill port on the side of the motor the cap should have two litle pegs that stick up open it up and you should fill it till you can see the oil hit just about to the edge of the threads that should only be 1 and 1/2 quarts not to much in those small engines . and do not use synthetic . just use regular oil 10 w 30 weight

I need to know what brand and type of oil to put in my cub cadet rt 65 tiller

As 1st option,It would be best to call the manufacturer Cub Cadet,or their Authorized Repair Center, and ask them directly.
Refer to the manual that came with the tiller.

As 2nd option, a general small engine repair shop can be helpful too.

Have a nice day.

Need to know oil / petrol mix for Mantis 2 stoke Tiller

it is a 50:1 gas:oil mix. I'd also strongly recommend adding a fuel stabilizer to the mix, as a tiller has a tendency to sit for long periods without being used. Good luck!

Tiller starts, runs for 2 minutes, then engine slowly sputters and dies. In checking the engine oil, discovered gasoline mixed in with oil. Why would this happen? Solutions?

Other than knowing you have a tiller, sounds like you have a float type carb. and the float did not shut the fuel off and fuel ends up in the crank case with the oil
Your problem sounds like you need to address the carb. area starting with removing the float bowl and inspect the float needle valve and needle valve seat mainly for dirt and functioning freely. If you have a metal float shake it to see if has fuel in it? if it does get a new one. Drain the oil when you fix the problem and put new in

My neighbor let us use his troy built tiller and it needs oil but he doesn't know what type of oil to put in the transmition. please help

The recommended lube for a Troy Bilt transmission is 140 Gear Lube. It's tough to find. If you use lighter oil, the trans seals will likely start to leak.

Need a downloadable copy of owners manuals.

my 17 in dual tine tiller fouls up the air filter with oil and the spark plug. The prefilter, I can't tell if I put it in backwards or not. Also, the manual says to "fill the oil reservoir almost to overflowing." I don't believe that was right, because I am not sure if that is the reason oil is entering the filter box or not, but I am not going to do that again. I don't know how much oil to add, but it certainly won't be to overflow level. I am going to reverse the prefilter(screen/foam) in the filter chamber and pray that the oil does not foul up the spark plug and filter chamber again. Does anyone agree or disagree?
