SOURCE: only runs a few seconds.

Remove the batteries, then reinstall. Be sure the batteries are new or at least holding a full charge.

I went to the seceret setting screen on my nook hd and turned on demo mode and now i cant turn it off

access Settings > Device Information and tap above the volume bar while holding Volume + button, a menu pops up...unchecked "Enable Demo Mode". Turn off the Nook, turn it back on, demo mode should be off now.
-DO NOT- try and verify if demo mode is off before rebooting the device.
If all else fails, bring it in to your local B&N and seek the Nook specialist out. They should be able to turn it off for you.

Good Luck! :-)

Why do I need a filtration system for my aquarium?

Aquarium filters are a necessary part of operating an aquarium. The fish are confined to a much smaller quantity of water in comparison to their natural habitat. Unlike in open waters, fish waste in the aquarium can quickly build up and increase toxic levels. Fish waste will in turn release ammonia which will kill your fish.

Do fish grow relatively to the aquarium size?

No, this is a big misconception. Larger fish will soon need a larger aquarium to be healthy. Restricting them to a smaller aquarium may stunt there growth and result in physical deformities. Be sure to give the right environment to the fish you look after.

Stuck in demo mode

When you are in STANDBY mode hold the menu button for a few seconds and a special menu should pop up. In this menu you should be able to set the clock, turn off or on the beep, and take your unit out of demo mode. Good luck.

Turn the unit onto standby then press and hold the menu button then scroll down to demo using the toggle switch on the right then press and hold the toggle switch for a few seconds and it will change to demo off. It's not too difficult but you are correct, it doesn't tell you correctly in the installation instructions.
