Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

I have an Electrolux EWF1083 8kg front loading washing machine. I have a coin stuck in a pipe that feeds to the area at the pump door. The coin is very difficult to reach and I can't extract it. Can I remove the bottom cover the washing machine in order to get a better shot at removing the coin. If so what is the correct procedure for removing the bottom plastic cover.

There is actually a procedure that details how to remove coins from your washer.

  • Unplug the machine to reduce your risk of injury while working on it.

  • Remove the front plate from the bottom of the washing machine. Most front-loaders are designed so that their filter systems are located behind the bottom panel, allowing them to be cleaned regularly. On most machines, the plate should pull off or swing open. You may need a screwdriver to unscrew the panel.

  • Pull out the filter, usually located in the lower right corner, and examine it for coins. Coins are more likely to be found in the pump itself but the filter should be checked and rinsed off first.

  • Pull out the pump and open it in accordance with your specific washer's specifications. Each model may function a little differently but the pumps are designed to be removed for cleaning. You will likely need to unclip the wire harness going into the pump and unscrew one or two bolts holding the pump in place.

  • Pull the hose off of the pump and check it for any coin blockages. If it appears to be clogged, carefully insert a straightened wire coat hanger into it to try to dislodge the obstruction.

  • Remove any coins and other debris from the pump before replacing it and reattaching the wire harness.

  • Examine the drain inside the washer to ensure there aren't any coins there either.

  • Let me know how this works for you and if you need more assistance let me know. Thanks

disconnect machine from mains electric supply. remove top cover of machine then check the back of the control panel for a small black pipe, it should be attached to a small nipple in the panel rear if it is not you will get the fault you describe. if the pipe is connected remove it and blow down pipe with your mouth or a foot pump to remove any blockage then reconnect it and try the machine again. check also that the pipe is not trapped or kinked too i hope this helps you

The water won't drain out of my HJA8552-HJA8513 washing machine. For a couple of washes before it stopped draining it made a very loud noise...What could be wrong with it?

There is a possibility that something like a coin has got stuck in the impeller of the drain pump, you may want to check and clean the drain pump, in most of the machines there are coin traps provided look for the same in you machine.

WHAT DOES OE MEAN. MACHINE NOT EMPTYING AND NOW NOT SPINNING

Had the same problem and there was a $2 coin stuck in the hose that empties the water from the barrel to the pump. Couldn't find the problem initially, but after numerous times emptying the front drain pump filter (little carriage you pull out) I felt inside where the pipe empties into this carriage and felt the coin. Had to get underneath and pull off the pipe that attaches to get it out. Hope this helps.
