What colour wires does the new dvd player have? The colours correspond with the socket that you plug them into. If your new dvd player only has yellow red and white cables then that is all you need. if they are red blue and green then you will also need to plug the appropriate audio cable into the dvd player. If you need more help please tell me the model of dvd player and the model of tv

Well if the house is built in the 70's the cable is old 2 pair wire, meaning that there are 4 coloured wires (red, green, yellow, black). If you cut the sheathing off (Carefully without cutting the cables) you can see the colours of the cables.
The first pair of wires to use are the Red and Green. The second pair of wires to use are the Yellow and Black.
If you hook up the red/ green wires to a voice jack, these cables might possibly be hooked up to the main telephone terminal (usually found downstairs) and you will have telephone service to the jack.
But not knowing where the cables are attached to this is hard to say.
Might be alot easier if you call in your telco provider to get them to install this jack.
Good Luck.

Was playing around with the TV's menu and changed the Tuning Band from "HRC cable" to "IRC cable". Suddenly I have colour again. No one had adjusted any of the controls, so still not sure why one day it was fine and the next day it had gone to black and white, but changing the Tuning Band fixed the colour problem for me.

OK, here are info...
first unplug TV and dvd recorder from AC outlet and put hdmi cable as follows...
at rear side of TV, you have 2 hdmi inputs, hook hdmi cable in any one of them and other end of hdmi cable will be hooked in hdmi out of dvd recorder rear side.
Now, plug both units in AC outlet and power up, go to TV menu > hdmi setup > and perform device list update.
TV will recognize dvd recorder and you will see dvd recorder logo screen.

Let me know if you need further info / help.

Do you have the red, white and yellow hookups on the back of your TV????? If you don't then you need to get an RF Modulator. You can buy one at Walmart. Older TVs don't have the red, white and yellow hookups. You hook up the RF modulator with a short cable to the cable outlet on your TV. Then you plug in your DVD player to the RF modulator. You also plug your cable for the TV into the RF modulator. It really is very simple. Directions are included with the RF modulator. You will need a short piece of cable also.

Sanyo TV - DS25390

In your model you have to purchase one video RF converter. RF converter contains one video input in yellow colour and two audio input in red and white colour and one cable connector as output. Connect the dvd output to this converter and tune the tv program in which place you receive dvd signal.
