Apologies. Just seeing this. It comes back on by itself after X minutes 3-5 as I recall, on for 10 minutes or half an hour and out again. Have not correlated this time line in winter w/ furnace cycle given close proximity to register, except confirming incidence w/ no heat on. (5 ft below ceiling vent indirect angle) rb~,~

Thanks. We'll give that a go. Will advise outcome - logistics will weigh in, as this is a 150# TV, currently on Kitchen table. ...Access to 120v though. Confidence is high as we approach this lab trial.

When you say comes back after a few minutes, does it mean that it comes back on by itself, or can be powered on again after its off for a while? Please provide this info so that I can tell you what the problem is. Sounds like an over-heating issue to me.

There are other causes for overheating such as dust. The first thing to try would be to take a can of compressed air, remove the back cover of the tv and empty it on the boards. If its a dust related issue, it should be cleared. Please try it and let me know

:) I hope it will work. I should caution you though not to venture close to the CRT. We are dealing with a device that operates at 30,000V which are generated by the high voltage transformer(flyback). Also look for any capacitors that have bulged or cracked tops as the overheating may have damaged some capacitors.

My tv turns on properly but after a few minutes it goes blank

you are having a heat related issue and the component or parts are failing. using a hair dryer blowing into back of set will make it black out and a portable fan should cool it enough to come back on. unless you know a good cheap tech, repairs are costly. i left the business when t.v' s became disposable.

This is a bad connection in the power supply, or a bad connection in the high voltage supply, and could also be expensive to repair if the regulator board is intermittent. I say if you can take it back, good riddance. Good Luck
