    Hello
Reset the Kenwood MP642 to its factory settings first. There is a reset button inside the front panel extrem left. When you open its front control panel, it can be accessable. Do this first.
Thenre-enter of deactivate its security code.
Frome here onwars, you can re-enter the security code, or de-activate it.
Select Menu and then Security clear.

When you have your Radio Unlock Code, use the Preset Keys to input this code into your Stereo. You should hear a Beep when this code has been entered, this is an Unlock Confirmation. To retrieve your code, try the following suggestions:

  1. If you have your Service or Owners manual, usually in the Glove compartment, look for the Radio Security Code in there. Usually it is on a White, Credit Card looking card, in the Manual.
  2. You can also check on the Sides of the Glove box, inside and outside, for the Radio Code. It may be on a Sticker. Sometimes you can also find the Code under the Ash tray, on or around the Door Jamb on the door, or on the vehicle, and in the Trunk, or on the bottom of the Trunk Lid.
  3. You can also use your VIN in many cases by calling the Dealer Service Department, and they can lookup the Radio Code using the VIN.
  4. If all else fails, you will have to remove the Stereo to gain access to the Serial Number. Write this number down and contact your Local Dealership to retrieve the Unlock Code for your Stereo. There is no charge for this.

What is the Year, Make and Model of your Vehicle? You will need to contact the dealership and provide proof of ownership of the vehicle for them to generate or lookup your Unlock Code. This is free. Just make sure to write this code down and put it in your Glove Box so that you won't have to contact the dealership the next time this happens.

Behind the Faceplate, under your Eject button, you have a RESET button. The Unit will return to Factory Settings when the RESET button is pressed. If all else fails, you will need to contact Kenwood at: (310) 761-8802 or toll free 1-800-KENWOOD (536-9663)

When the car's battery is disconnected, the radio is disabled, then you need to enter the car's radio code to enable the radio to function again. Generally, the radio's unlock code is in your car owners manual. If you dont have your manual, you need to contact the motor dealer who sold the car to you and obtain this radio code from them; keep in mind that this codes number is unique for each vehicle.
Additionally, sometimes could find solution if send one email at - restoredclassic@aol.com - with the year and model vehicle and model and serial radio number.

Hope this helps.

What is EC code in kenwood a.c ?

  1. If your car battery died, your Kenwood stereo will ask you for a code. There are various ways to enter the security code; this depends on the model of your Kenwood stereo.
  2. Look in your manual and see what the security code is for your particular Kenwood stereo. There are common security codes on many Kenwood stereos. Kenwood claims security, but its stereos have many of the same security codes. Here are three common security codes: 1-2-3-4 (a code many Kenwood owners use), 3-0-5-1 (a common security code in Kenwood manuals) and KCAR (works on some Kenwood stereo models). You should have a code within the pages of your manual. Luckily, many Kenwood stereos have the same security codes.
  3. Enter the security code into your Kenwood radio. Method #1: During the code request mode, while holding the DISP key depressed, press and hold the "Volume UP" or "DOWN" key for three seconds until the " ... " display disappears. Enter the security code using your Kenwood remote. Method #2: Press the "Auto" and "Track Up" button on the face of radio at the same time until the four dash lines disappear. Enter the security code using your Kenwood remote. Method #3: Press and hold the "One" then the "Six" preset keys until the display shows the letter "C." Enter the security code using your Kenwood remote.
  4. Tips:
  • If you did not have your manual, try the most common codes for Kenwood stereos. If those codes don't work, you can also buy your Kenwood stereo code online. There are places online that will sell you the security code to your Kenwood stereo.
  • Keep your security code and this information in a safe place.

I have just had a new battery fitted and now the stereo is asking for a code. The code written on my handbook and on my security cards are only 4 digits, and it will not unlock the stereo

Hi:
most radio security codes are only 4 digits, and must be entered using the preset buttons on your stereo. If you are properly entering the code in the manner that your ownwers manual says, then your next step is to stop by your dealership service area, and with the VIN number of your car, they can help you unlock your stereo. I hope you get help!

Daughters car battery went flat now require security code for alpine car stereo engine number is 4A9228091

You car stereo security code is specific to your unit and is normally found in the car owner manual along with the engine number.
Providing it is the original car stereo, you can also ask the car manufacturer dealership for the radio security code.
Hope it helps!
