Question about Vtech Lands Phones

Our cordless VTech phone #5123 is picking up our phone messages, bit we cannot here them. They are very low and garbled. Email cwilson@stjoelive.com

Hello.

You may need to reset your telephone system:

From VTech Documentation:

Step 1: Disconnect the power to the telephone base.

Step 2: Disconnect the handset battery.

Step 3: Wait a few minutes and then reconnect the power to the telephone base.

Step 4: Reconnect the handset battery

Step 5: Wait about one minute for the handset to re-establish a link with the telephone base and then test the phone again.

NOTE: After resetting the telephone system, you will need to reset the clock. If the time is not set, you will hear Time and Day Not Set when you listen to messages.

NOTE: If you have caller ID service, the time will automatically be updated whenever caller ID information is delivered. However, since caller ID delivers the date, rather than the day, you must program the year once so the system can derive the day of the week.

To set the day and time, confirm that the answering system is turned on and then complete the following steps:
Step 1: Press CLOCK. The system will announce the current setting.

Step 2: Press CLOCK again. The system will announce the current day setting.

Step 3: Press SKIP or REPEAT on the base until you hear the correct day.

Step 4: Press CLOCK. The system will announce the current hour setting.

Step 5: Press SKIP or REPEAT on the base until you hear the correct hour.

Step 6: Press CLOCK. The system will announce the current minute setting.

Step 7: Press SKIP or REPEAT on the base until you hear the correct minute.
NOTE: Pressing and holding SKIP or REPEAT will increment the minutes or years by 10.

Step 8: Press CLOCK. The system will announce the current year setting.

Step 9: Press SKIP or REPEAT on the base until you hear the correct year.

Step 10: Press CLOCK to confirm. The system will announce the new time and day setting followed by a confirmation beep.

My daughter gave me her v tech 6.0 phone, i would like to know how to program my own voice re answering messages and also how to be able to pick up my messages from outside of my house thank you


"DECT 6.0" is the generic name for the digital cordless technology used, not a particular phone model number. You'll need to look at the back or bottom of your phone's base unit for a sticker with the actual model number. Once you have your model number, you can download a copy of the manual from VTech here. How do I set up the voice mail on the 5.8 vtech phone?


Set up the answering machine that came with your Vtech 5.8phone. To activate your voice mail, press the "Answer on/off" buttonat the base of the main cordless phone. Press "Setup" and then usethe arrows to set the number of rings before the answering machine picks up Press the "Announce" key on your Vtech 5.8 mainphone base to listen to the greeting that people hear when they call you. Press"Record" to record a new greeting and then press "Announce"to listen to the greeting.Press "Play" on your Vtech 5.8 main phonebase to listen to your voice messages. Press "Delete" to erasemessages.

Message light on Vtech cordless light won't stop blinking


The flashing message light may be telling you there is voice mail on your telephone line. If you have "home voice mail" or whatever your phone service provider calls their service, you're told of new message by a stutter dialtone. That is, when you pick up your phone to make a call, you hear two or three brief bursts of dialtone before it goes steady. Many new phone systems start flashing their message light when there are waiting messages so that you'll know about them if you don't pick up your phone. Follow whatever procedure your provider gives (usually you call a local access number) to pick up your messages, and that light should quit blinking.

Messages are garbled.


There can be many reasons for this, a poor connection to the line, a defective message recorder, bad speaker, etc... Has it been like that since you got the phone?
The Vtech 5.8GHz Cordless Phones have good sound quality.
Try using another phone or answering machine if the problem is still there, you will need to call your phone company and have the lines repaired. If this doesn't work, try contacting Vtech's customer support.
Of course, if you use a voicemail system that is offered from your provider, it can also be a problem with there systems, a easy way to figure out if its the phone, or something else, is to try using another phone and see if the problem stops or continues.
