Hello.

First, back up the old Palm data from your Mac Mini to an external backup drive.

Then, install the new Palm software, packaged with your new Tungsten, on your Mac Mini over the existing Palm desktop software.

Then, sync your new Palm.

Hope this helps.

Sheila, Before you do anything, you need to back up your data, if even to a flash drive (thumb drive), as a safety precaution. Doesn't need to be an expensive drive. Then, install the Palm software as noted.

The Palm Desktop (installed on your computer) should have all the information that is currently on it. Make sure that you sync before moving on.

On the tungsten, there will be a version of the palm desktop (updated) for it. Just install that version, it will find your old version, and import from there. PalmDesktop 6 supports Vista, unknown how well it will work as a 32bit app being emulated in 64bit environment.

If you want to change the user (this will enable you to sync without old data) then yes, a hard reset. To do this hold down the power button and press the reset button. fter 2 seconds release the power button and delete all data when prompted. Now when you hotsync you will be prompted for a new user.

I haven't used my palm in a while

If you don't remember the Palm password, you'll have to do a hard reset, which will erase all of the data.

Then, please download the latest Palm Desktop version from Palm.com and install it on your system.

After both of these steps, you should be able to sync.

Unable to hotsync with my computer

Also, if you have a new Tungsten E2 and there is no important data, I would hard reset it and then when you sync it, select the old profile of the previous Palm to see if that works.

The new Palm you have, is it a Tungsten E2 as well?

The profiles don't always carry over between different models.
