I am not truly sure but I believe some of those Herman Nelsons that use liquid fuel must be set flat or it wont light also I believe it may have a safety bypass button for lighting

Dayton 70,000 btu kerosene heater only runs consistently with 3/4 of a tank of fuel or more. Once it is below 3/4 it keeps shutting off. I have cleaned filters, tried to set pressure but pressure won't go...

If you can only get 4 psi from the pump then you have a problem with the rotor. This could be from the vanes not coming out properly of if you have replaced or serviced the rotor you may not have the clearance set properly between the pump ring and the top of the rotor.
Make sure to inspect the pump cover for any small cracks..

If you pump pressure in not enough the unit will not be able to pull fuel from the tank and you will see the burner cone slowly start to go from the orange color to a dark color and the unit will shut down.

I HAVE A 45000 BTU GOODMAN FURNACE RED LIGHT

There may not be a call for heat being registered by the control board. Take the R and W terminals on the control board and put a jumper between the two. If the heater starts, you have either a broken thermostat wire or a bad thermostat or connection.

Wat the hell is wrong with my dayton heater?170,000 btu oil fired...wont stay runnin?on shut down puffs like a mutha....

Most use a spark plug to ignite fuel it could need cleaning. You also could have water in fuel or dirt
check and clean ignitor/spark plug clean fuel line and nozzle, drain and clean tank Check for water in fuel by tilting unit to have a low corner siphon fuel from that corner after 1 hr inspect for water.

DAYTON 210,000 BTU OIL-FIRED HEATER WON T LIT UP

You write "FUEL SPRAYING AND FAN WAS WORKING"

If the fan was working, but the fan is not working now after replacing the whole kit, then something was installed incorrectly during the installation, possibly the rotor gap or rotor thickness is not correct or vane/vanes installed 90 degrees off.

Dayton 3E227A Heating Cycle

The sensor for the thermostat is probably going bad or has bad connections. It is (or thinks it is) heating up fast and therefore shuts of the heater.
