ASUS X83VB-X2 Notebook Logo

My -ASUS X83VB-X2 win7 64- was working perfect but suddenly 3 very bad things happened: 1) The web cam is not working any more, did disapear and can not even be found in the Devices Admin., 2) The battery charger is not working. I tought it was the battery itself, so I bought a new one but still does not charge. 3) In the Devices Admin. now I found an unknow device and going through its properties>details in the value window can read: ACPI\ITE8708 *ITE8708 I have reinstalled the win7 several times trying to fix the problem but it is always the same and nothing good happens. As far as I can think it could be some corrupted drivers or anything like that. Thanking you in advance. Best regards, Jairo R.

I agree, it is most likely a bad driver. When you go into the device manager, do you see any exclamation marks in yellow triangles? That would indicate a hardware problem. If you go into the offending hardware component, there should be a button that says whether or not the device is working properly and also and update drive button. Try updating the drivers and see if that works. The webcam could be reinstalled using the disk that came with it. The driver may not be Windows 7 compatible so if you tell me the make and model, I could try to get an updated driver for you.

Let me know.

Have you tried a System Restore? If you connect a External Monitor is there any change? Is the HDD LED blinking? Can you boot to Safe Mode? What preceded this issue?

Dim green light on power supply blinking

If the Power supply LED dims and flickers its either your motherboard circuit has been cut or there is a short in the laptop. The AC adapter is not the cause.

Try this:
Remove the battery, then press power button to drain all the current, then re-install battery and plug to adapter.

If that doesn't work, then it's most likely the motherboard.

Laptop powers up but a blank screen shows with two green lights showing up top whats the problem

PLug the laptop into an external monitor to see if you get video to the external screen.  You should have a vga port on your laptop, connect it to the laptop and then turn it on.  If you see video the onboard video card on the laptop is fine and most likely you have a bad lcd.  On the other hand if by "powers up and then goes to a blank screen" you mean its posting you see the asus splash screen and instaed of going into windows you see a blank screen.  in that case you mos likely have a bad hard drive or corrupt operating system.  You can test the hard drive by downloading dft and booting from that cd.  here is a link to dft http://www.hitachigst.com/support/downloads/#DFT

My Asus X83Vb is running on Windows 7. The CD drive gets stuck or freezes whenever I try to burn a CD.I'm starting to believe its a driver issue because the laptop was made for Windows Vista. I'm running...

Hello,

Normally there should not be the drivers issue with CD ROM because windows 7 has almost the drivers for hardwares available.
To make sure you can go to device manager and uninstall the ATA channel1 and DVD cd ROM drive drivers after clicking on them.
After rebooting the drivers will be reloaded and reboot the system once more.

If then also the issue is not resolved try with soft eject (right click on drive icon and click eject). If then also the issue persists then the issue is with hardware.

Thanks
