Question about Lexmark X6170 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

My Lexmark 6170 printer isn't working properly. When I try to print something the paper isn't feeding in correctly and feeds in sideways to the right crushing the paper. It feeds so far in, and will continue to try to feed in unless I stop the feed. I've had a look inside and cannot detect a paper jam anywhere, yet it still feeds the paper in incorrectly. Any advice would be gratefully received.

Printed copy will not feed out line by line and finally will not feed the printed page. How to get it to work properly?

There could be something blocking the paper path that's not allowing the paper to not go all the way through the feeder. Try to open the printer and access the cartridge area. Remove the cartridges. Check for any foreign objects blocking the paper path. Rebrick your printer by removing the power adapter (black box found on the back of your printer where the power cord is plugged in) and then re-plug after 30 seconds. When your printer turns back on, re-insert your cartridges. Then try print your document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

When I print something it does not print straight on the page. Can you help me figure out what the problem is?

Something is making the page feed crooked. Are the "fences" beside the stack of paper up against it to prevent it moving sideways? Also check that the feed rollers are clean and have good friction. Plain water on a cloth will usually clean them well enough to feed properly - just be sure the rollers are dry before you reinsert paper. Use a cloth, not a paper towel, because paper leaves fuzz behind, making the rollers slick. In more severe cases I sand rollers, then clean them, but you need to be careful not to get sanding debris all over the printer.

Every time i try to print the my paper goes in sideways and doesnt feed into the printer properly what wrong????

There is almost certainly something in the print path that is obstructing the paper. Check to see if there isnt some old paper or something dropped in the paper input.

Lexmark z2300 printer won't pull in paper

1. Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
2. Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
3. Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button. (On the X83, press the Select button.)
4. Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
5. Check to see if all the rollers are turning.

If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.
6. If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
7. Turn the printer off.
8. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
9. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.

try reinstalling the drivers and/or replacing the cables. Also look for any debris or tiny piece of paper that may be stuck between the rollers..

Paper not feeding through on right hand side

I had the exact same problem.  I disconnected the printer and then when I flipped it upside down, I heard something drop out of it.  Low and behold was my missing letter opener.   I then tested the printer to see if it works, and sure enough it feeds properly.  Try cheecking to see if any objects may have accidentally fallen into it.
