What did the brushes look like before replaced, if they were burnt or pitted then you have a major electrical issue probably. UNPLUG tool and remove the replaced brushes and check them for their condition. Does the blade spin freely? If not you could have a bearing issue or an obstruction. Also how is the power cord, is the insulation broken which can cause an electrical short. These are all possible items that can cause your problem. If this unit has a resetable breaker it could also be the issue. Hope this gives you some idea of where to continue to look

MY HOOVER 199W JUST STOPPED WORKING.............I'VE CHECKED THE FUSE AND EMPTIED THE DUST....STILL NOT WORKING...ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE THANKS Veronica

It could be a thermal breaker that goes automatic if the filter is full of fine-dust and the rpm of the motor becomes to high and the heat dissipation will acces the thermo breaker replace dust back AND filter, second there could be if the brushes are become to short the autostop can be activated (you see a little dark pin with micro spring in the brush ) in one of the 2 carbon brushes. if so replace the carbon brushes .

My jackhammer will not run, the cord and switch are good

Check your brushes. The brushes on the Brute breaker have a spring loaded, non-conductive pin in them. When either brush wears down far enough the pin pops out and prevents damage to the expensive armature. If by chance the brushes are OK you may have to have your armature tested.

I've just changed the brushes on my Bosch washing machine motor, but it's still not turning the drum! Is there anything else i need to reset?

1) Test the lid switch must be closed very well, this will NOT start the machine.
2) the start button test for open
3) tight any wires connector
4) see the outlet box from your house is o.k reset the breaker.
5) put some desklamp for to see if working, so go and test the power cord .
6) tight the fuse or c.breaker from control board.
6a) put correct tension in the belt, see for any obstruction mechanical with the clutch and brake see the diagram
7) try it

I want to install a cutler hammer 20amp. cuircut breaker in my home. i need instructions on how to wire it up in the breaker box. can anyone help?

20 amp 120 or 240? All 20 amps 120 must be 12 gauge wire for all connections on that circuit.. no exceptions

120- Bring wire into box securely as is done with all the other wires. Shut the breaker to "off". wire the black wire from the screw on the back of the breaker. white wire to the bar with all the other whites. copper to the same bar or separate grounding bar if available. snap breaker into place. turn breaker on

6180-20 chop saw trips 20 amp on start up all the time Terry

If it trips the breaker as soon as you hit the switch, check the power circuit. Check the power cord for frays or cuts, especially where the cord goes into the saw. Remove/split the handle and check the wires into and out of the switch and to the brushes and field. Lood for burned or melted wires or case parts. Milwaukee is notorious for running lots of small wires in very tight places. Make sure none of them got pinched when the tool was assembled. Watch for this also when you reassemble the saw. Check the brushes, if they're worn or broke they can cause a short on the armature. If these all check out you need to have the armature checked on a growler for shorts.
If the saw runs for a few seconds then trips the breaker I'd check for gear and bearing problems. Cehck for free, smooth movement of the bearings on the armature and blade drive assembly. The blade should turn freely by hand. Feel for undue resistance or a gritty feel in the bearings and gears. If necessary replace any offending parts.

Electrical spark unit stoped . Getting power through switch but motor will not start.

More than likely you have a worn brush. If the breaker was running good and then just stopped this is the case. These brushes have a pop-off feature that will stop the motor when it is time to replace the brushes. If you replace the brushes and are getting a lot of sparking, the armature or field more than likely may have a short. Sometimes its the armature, sometimes it's the field, and sometimes its both (running short). You have to have a short tester and a growler in order to test for the shorts. One thing to look for is any burn marks on the windings of the armature, and look for scarring on the inside of the field which may have gotten damage due to rubbing from the armature. An imbalance in the electrical field can push the armature into the side of the field while it spins.
