Question about Fisher and Paykel Dishwashers

1 Answer

Hi there, my F&P nautilius dishwasher starts the cycle as soon as I push the power button but only pumps out then swithces off. It won't let me set or change the cycle. I turned it off and left it over night and in the morning it had overflowed with water. There is no fault code showing on the display either.

Hi Rick, the water came in with the power turned off. This has never been a problem before. The unit drains into a connection on the side of the sink drain. So when I turn the unit on for the first time it starts pumping(even with no water in it) which in itself shouldn't happen as I usually need to select the progamme and push start before that happens. It pumps for about 10 minutes then just switches off. If I push the power button again it does the same thing. The model is a F & P DW691ED.

Hi Rick, sorry for the late reply but I have been sent away from home for work and am not back until Monday so will conduct those tests. I have a multi meter.

Hi Rick. I fixed it. When I went to move the dishwasher out of the cavity I saw that there was something sticking out the end of the drain hose. It was totally blocked with gunk. I cleaned that and the nipple that it goes onto and reconnected everything and it is now working perfectly. Water must have been syphoning back into the dishwasher I think but will monitor it over night to make sure. Thanks for your help

When you said overflowed with water did the water come out the door the float switch in the unit may be stuck either opened or closed which if it were stuck or the switch itself were broken then the unit would have water go in and immediatley go out of the unit as well would need the model number to clarify this and diagnose further also a nautilus is made by ge as well as F&P does the water immediatley come out the drain line into the garbage disposal or your sink? when it does drain? I await your reply to the answers to my questions Thanks Rick

ok first thing is the water going in with the power off you would look at the water inlet valve if the water is racing in to the unit like how its supposed to when your turn the unit on and check to see if the solenoid on the top of the valve is getting power still when the unit is off next thing would be the flow meter in a F&P this is usually what tells the unit how much water and lastly would be a float switch some F&P have these most dishwashers do although I have seen some that use others methods these three parts need to be tested to assure they are not shorted the float switch basic job is to tell the unit ok time to send some water in or ok thats enough water all set i can startn washing are you able to conduct electrical tests with a multimeter? if so you would start in these three areas also I have seen where if the drain line is on an incline or if the drain line has something stuck in the line itself it lets out little water and you would need to look visually at how the flow of water is coming out of that drain line as well so if you were to have strong flow of water then you would not look any further at the drain im going to try and located a parts diagram for your machine message me back on if you are able to run continuity and power tests on these parts Thanks Rick

Whilpool gu2300xt,wash cycle lights wont light, when i push start button goeswt calcell and drain and you can here drain pump then it shuts off

It is likely there is some fault with the float switch. Which means the dishwasher thinks it is overfilled with water and tries to empty out to protect itself. This is why the pump turns on as soon as you try to run the dishwasher. Refer diagram. You need to check if the float (12) spring is responding by pressing it down and checking if it comes up. Also level switch could be faulty.

Dishwasher won't drain when cycle is complete. Not even when press on the Cancel/Drain button. Engine starts working (at least sounds like something is going on) but not water goes out to the sink...

Hi
Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. First make sure that the drain is not clogged and remove clogs if present. If no visible lint is present then remove the lower front access panel to check the drain filter and drain pump for any clogs, you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump completely. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller & clean the chopper assembly. Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the complete water such that heating element doesn't overheat. Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.

Hi - this is a strange one - I could be wrong here but I think that theres two likely possibilities for you - first is the motor controller board could be faulty - it may have a short on the switch ic for the drain pump - the other is there maybe an air lock or blockage to the pressure tube - remove the display panel to access the clear tube - unclip it & blow into towards the bowl to see if theres a blockage.

You say as soon as the start switch is pushed the pump runs continously? or does it come on as soon as the power button is pushed? either way I think the controller maybe faulty - haven't come across aything like this one before...

Hi

Press and hold the HEATED DRY/NO HEAT DRY/AIR DRY button for 15 seconds to unlock the control lock in your dishwasher. Also make sure that nothing is blocking the drain pump assembly. If the issue returns after its cleaned then it means that the control board has gone bad and should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

DISHWASHER GE PDW7800J00BB DOES NOT WASH ,FILLS WITH WATER BUT NO WASH

It is unclear from your description if the wash pump starts and pushes the water around but never stops cycle or the dishwasher stops as soon as the water is filled.

If you do not hear the wash pump start then it is possible the wash motor is faulty. But if the wash pump starts and never completes the wash cycle then it is possible the heater is faulty and dishwasher is waiting for water to heat up before it can go to next cycle.

See the attached diagram for location of wash pump motor and heater.

Hope this helps you find the problem. Please rate the solution if you found it useful.

GE Nautilius 24" built in about 6 yrs old won't start - it hums and goes through the cycles but doesn't run. Water came in and now won't drain either

Sounds like one of two things 1. The timer unit is gone, that would need replacing. 2. the syphin relay is stuck, this is located below the syphin on the underside of the dishwisher. BE CAREFUL! You will be dealing with electrics.

Hi, our Indesit IDL500 dishwasher has stopped working. The fault light 2 is flashing. The manual doesn't mention what fault this indicates. Any ideas. Cheers, Neil

Hi Niel, If you were to start the cycle from the beginning, where in the cycle does this occur? . So many code numbers for so many units, hard to keep up .Just note if heating is taking place and if drainage is correct. Hear from you soon.

Ok try this, open the door and then hit these buttons in the following combination. HI TEMP - DRY - HI TEMP - DRY...then close door and press cancel...then wait for the pump to shut down. you should be able to run a cycle after this...If this fails to fix the problem give me the make and model # of the dishwasher, this can normally be found just inside the door.
