To eliminate a dishwasher problem, run a heavy 3 pronged extension cord from a known working outlet to the dishwasher and plug the dishwasher into the cord. If you still have no power (dishwasher is not showing any signs of life) then it is a dishwasher problem (circuit board, bad connection from dishwasher cord to dishwasher, etc).
If the dishwasher actually shows signs of life, then you may have a tripped breaker. Check the breaker to make sure it is on and that the tab is not either in the center or the off position. Also, try moving the dishwasher cord's plug from the outlet it is currently in to another outlet in the under sink area. There is a chance that the plug got switched from the normal outlet to the outlet that controls the garbage disposal, that outlet should only be hot when the disposal wall switch is flipped to the on position.
Plug the Siemens dishwasher into a working electrical outlet if nothing on the dishwasher is operating. Check the household circuit breaker or fuse and reset or replace as needed.
Push the door closed fully if the dishwasher has power but isn't starting. The unit will not operate if the door is open.
PF = Power Failure, did you make sure outlet is ok and not a loose plug? Any short in outlet will do that, OR a loose wire at the motor to the dishwasher. UNPLUG unit and look under it for a gray box that the plug leads from. One or 2 screws will remove that box and verify all wires are connected properly.. MAKE sure unit is UNPLUGGED
You can put the unit into diagnostics (press the following keys in order within 6 seconds HEATED DRY, NORMAL, HEATED DRY, NORMAL all the lights will come on and it will start a diag cycle) and see if it recovers. If not, you are looking at a electronic control, and yes you CAN change the part yourself.
These are just some possible solutions that are worded for general assistance, I'm sure you have checked many of these things but others may not have;
The circuit breaker in the electrical panel may need to be reset. Hopefully it is labeled and will be easy to find without cycling power to everything else in the house.
The dishwasher may be on a GFI (ground fault interruption) circuit. The outlet may have a reset button on it that needs to be pushed or the circuit breaker in the electrical panel may have a built in GFI that needs to be reset.
Many dishwashers are installed with a light switch in the vicinity of the unit that is used as a disconnect. The light switch will cut power to the dishwasher if turner off. The switch is sometimes above the counter and sometimes below the sink.
There is also the possibility of a faulty On/Off button or dishwasher circuit board.
make sure you still have power going to your unit. sometimes they are plugged into a regular wall plug under the sink or you can also chrck the circuit breaker @ the panel most of the on the out side of the house
My dishwasher just quit mid cycle. (still has water in it) It is a whirlpool partner 1. I checked the breaker and it wasn't tripped... but i reset it anyways. When I tried the dishwasher again it worked for a second and turned off. I have done reading about the thermo fuse but can't find it. Not sure how big of a problem this is.
Dishwasher is 5 years old.
hi there,
no indication that machine is not working,is there any power supply, check the power source, circuit breaker switch on.
Step 1: Check to make sure it's receiving power. If the unit plugs into a wall outlet, check the cord, the plug, and the outlet to make sure they're functioning properly. Also check the switch that controls the outlet to make sure it's turned on. Most built-in dishwashers are wired directly into a circuit. Check the main entrance panel for a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker, and restore the circuit. If your home is an older one, the dishwasher may be wired to a separate entrance panel; look for a blown fuse or breaker at this panel, and restore the circuit.
Step 2: If the circuit is receiving power, and the wall outlet is controlled by a switch, the switch may be faulty. Test the switch with a voltage tester. Take off the switch cover plate and place one probe of the tester on one terminal and the other probe on the other terminal. If the tester bulb lights, the switch is functioning. If it doesn't light, the switch is faulty. Replace the switch with a new one of the same type. this should be done by appliance technician, but if you have knowledge on this check it out.regads have a nice day, dont forget to rate me thank's
Is this wired directly to the Breaker/fuse box?
Or is there an electrical outlet socket under the sink that this plugs into?
Possibly for the former you may need to turn off the breaker, remove the fuse to turn off the power. Unscrew the machine where it is attached to the counter and pull it out from the counter. Where the wire is attached to the machine, unscrew it and remove it from the machine. The machine's drain hose should be removed from the drain where it is attached to the disposal or the drain pipe. Then you can discard the old machine.
If there is an electric socket that the power is plugged into unplug and follow the rest of the procedure. Otherwise after removing the machine, get an electrician to install a plug outlet so that your new machine can be plugged into the wall socket and alleviate this problem in the future.
