I have a Toshiba 57H81 and have figured out that it is having red convergence issues that I believe i can fix myself (got the TV for free and I like to tinker) however I cannot find which STK part numbers i need to replace in order to fix it. Am I right in saying that there is only two that need to be replace if the red is the only color that is ghosting? I appreciate any help.

- I finaly got ahold of the parts and manual for this tv. The service manual 57H81 goes along with the one for 50H81. I cant seem to find the board which carries the two STK parts that need replacing within the manual. Maybe i didnt look hard enough. Can anyone let me know which board this will be located on? or perhaps which page to look at for the board that carries them? appreciate any help.Sep 10, 2008
- Slinteriors,
finaly got around to getting a saudering iron and some de-sauder cable. These stk's have an extremely tight column of wires on the end that sauder to the board. I am a little worried as to my skill with a saudering iron to get this intricate pice onto the board without arking cuircuts that are supposed to not touch. Could you offer any tips or tricks?

- Ok so . . . I finally got the new parts in and fired it up, and it didnt make a bit of difference. So to clarify, I replaced the two stk parts that are attached to the heatsink sitting on the closest right hand board to you if you were sitting behing the tv with the back pulled off. i had to un-solder the heatsink to get them off of it since it was in such a tight area.
If i did indeed replace the right parts, what else could it be? the red ghosting is being bowed downward from the top and upward from the bottom. They still let you do auto alignment from left to right though (cant move the crosshairs up or down only). It also, will not let me hit "enter" in order to select "blue" and align its crosshairs automatically in any mode. So im stuck with just being able to align red left and right, though red is the only one thats messed up really bad right now.
Appreciate any help, and thank you for the help thus far Slinteriors.Sep 13, 2008
- checked them all and they are all hitting 1.8/1.9 ohms and the ICs look great. Also as an update i was able to get the blue crosshairs to manually align, all thats wrong is the red (up & down), the controller has a bad button.Oct 13, 2008
- Just wanted to repost that I checked all of the resistors Slinteriors asked me to and they all checked out ok. Still wondering what I could check next? Would really love to get this thing fixed.Nov 06, 2008

- So im an idiot, i tripple checked the resistors that Slinterior's told me to and one is reading bad. I am going to see if radioshack carries anything below 10ohm and replace it, ill write back with an update, oh and it was number R7711.Jan 13, 2009
- Gotcha, getting the desired part tomorrow, will update. thanks.Aug 24, 2009
- Youd dont happen to know where I could get a few do you. Been checking everywhere and coming up empty handed. Thanks for all your help.Oct 17, 2009
- So i finally got around to it and the replaced ohms resistors did it! The darn thing works beautifully, I also had to clean the mirror and lenses due to an awful ambient light, no doubt from sitting almost a year in the corner of the room.
One thing has come up though, I do notice that I have to manually adjust the convergences on it through the televisions menu almost every day. It doesnt travel much, maybe a hair or two, and the blue crosshairs on the left side of the screen are a little more blurry than the rest.
Is this normal or is there something else i can mess with?
