Hi there. Take out the printwheel and see if any of the spokes are bent. That would cause wrong letters. . Also if the print solenoid(piston) does not go in and out freely. Lawrence

It is not typing certain characters distinctly

If it always the same letters the printwheel is possibly bad or the ribbon not fully feeding.

I am not able to type the @ symbol on my Brother typewriter. Model #EM-530. I have tried everything it is driving me crazy. Thanks for your help!!

If it is typing the alternate symbol on the key you are in KBII. The code key with the key in the top row labeled KBII will get you out of that mode.

MY BROTHER ML100 IS TYPING WRONG LETTERS TRIED A NEW DAISY WHEEL STILL TYPING WRONG LETTERS.

If you are not in proportional space or a KBII you probably have a broken P/W homing pawl.

Correction bar not working. When I type in a word and hit correct, instead of lifting the lettter off the paper it types the letter I typed in bold. Is there a button I can push to correct this from...

The correction tape may be installed wrong, or it may be a tacky L/o that will stick nand not raise up..
You can find a manual at BROTHER.COM, click on support.

Wrong characters.

You need to get the user guide out and make sure that you have set the keyboard up to suit your country.

If you do not have a user guide go to www.brother.com and you will find one in their downloads section

Typewriter suddenly will not print!

It's been awhile since I've worked on these.

What is the typing mechanism in here? I believe Brother was using a wheel.
