How do I get my yamaha mg12xu to work with pro tools se on my Mac desktop

The Yamaha MG12XU has no drivers for mac os x, hence it will only work on Windows. You can still use it on your mac, by installing Windows on your mac via Virtualization (VMware Fusion or Parallels Desktop) then download the drivers from here:

How do i get steam to work?

well, the first thing you do, with a computer glitch, is try restarting the computer. if it worked in the past, and it ceased working, could be that you will have to do a restore/time machine.

if steam has never worked, it could be that your firewall is blocking the connection to steam server.

i am actually not a mac person, im a pc tech. the only real reason im getting involved is because i am impressed by your use of a video clip.

i just see too many people fail to get any help, because their questions are lacking in specifics, so, i wanted to give you props for trying to be thorough.

steam is only compatible with osx 10.58, 10.6X and 10.7 (all); however, it likely wouldnt have installed, or would give a specific message, if this were the case.

if we dont find a mac expert with an answer any time soon, you could always email steam support, in the meantime. i hate to do this, but, its just in case no one else has a faster, specific solution.

I need my computer to be like new again

Hi DerekPretty straightforward actually. Put the restore disk into the machine and open it up. Open the install icon and wait a while. Follow the inctructions that appear. You may have to type in your password.Evenutally the mac will restart and you will be asked which language to use.If you have done any updates to the machine it will tell you that you cannot reinstall the software without doing one of two options. One is Archive and install - which we do not want - and the other is Erase and install - which we do want.
The erase will take place and the system will be restored to the out of the box state. You may find that not all the applications are reinstalled - it depends on the particular disk being used.
Beare in mind though that your data is still on the disc somewhere, and someone with appropriate software will be able to get at a lot of it.
To get around that do this.
After you select the language option have a look at the menu bar. The menu at the right has a number of options - one of which is Disk Utility. Select that and wait until your HD shows up on the left of the window that opens up. Select it and then chose the erase/format tab.In the erase options is a secure erase with several levels of secure.Choose whichever takes your fance and then go out n]and have a meal.It will take quite some time - but at the end it would difficult for Tom Cruise and his mates to get anything off your disk.Then. Quit Disk utility and complete the install - this time you won\'t have to worry about the options - it will choose it for you.

Im not much of a computer guy so i need help, i came across a 20inch iMac g5 cuz my clinent up graded, he said he never used it on the net, only buisness files! when i hooked it up to the net roadrunner ,...

Don't know much about net roadrunner but what I would suggest is connect it up using an ethernet cable then go to system preferences and then Network. In the left hand column select Built-in Ethernet and configure with DHCP and then click on apply. If this does not work you will need to contact your ISP for the appropriate IP Address, Subnet Mark, Router etc. Hope this helps.

Just got an lg ge20 not working on mac

I wish I could tell you that your Mac is compatible with the LG GE20 20X DVD Burner but unfortunately it is not.

Here are the system requirements for this burner
LG GE20 20X DVD Burner Technical Specifications

The CD included is not the only item that is not compatible with the Mac, it is also the DVD burner itself. It is only windows compatible I'm afraid.

However, I do know that the Apple.com online store, has a comparable DVD+RW burner, the
LaCie 22x d2 DVD+RW with LightScribe
which will work with your iMac.

This is a genuine incompatibility issue.

If you had an Intel iMac, there actually is a workaround process where virtual machine software, like VMWare Fusion or Parallels, could be installed, with a version of Windows XP, Vista, or 7, display as a 2nd terminal within a Mac OS X desktop.

What's makes this effective, is that the LG GE20 could work with a windows virtual machine and because software like VMWare for example, can share devices, including optical CD/DVD drives, the Mac could share that drive with the windows virtual machine.

But since you do not have an Intel iMac, unless I am reading the description of your Mac computer(Apple iMAC Mac Notebook) incorrectly, the LaCie burner information, I provided above, would be the best option for your model of iMac.

Again, if I have described your model of Mac incorrectly let me know and I will be glad to assist further.

Painfully slow opening apps, especially Safari.

is your hard drive full?  if it is clean it out.  How much ram do you have...max it out.  This is an old machine and it's not very fast..it hasn't been made in four years or more.
what system are you using?  Maybe it's time for a faster computer or a faster computer.

Printer fails to print - error code -50

From System Preferences / Printers, delete the printer completely.
If you have the driver installer for the driver you are using, re-launch it and choose the "uninstall" option. If not, you will have to rip out a lot of code by hand -- you will have to search HP's website for the page on how to manually remove traces of old Mac HP drivers.
Download the latest driver for your printer from the HP website. Install if carefully.
After rebooting, go to System Preferences / Printers and re-define the printer. Make sure you use the HP driver, not any of the generic drivers.
This ought to clear the problem.

BOOT CAMP SEEMS TO BE UNSTABLE WITH MY APPLICATIONS

This is a not a Boot Camp - but a cheap way to get Fusion V.2 which is the best run-XP-and-OSX-both-at-one-time program.
1.  Do NOT use Parallels software b/c it is slow, clunky, and a memory hog - this is experience speaking :)
2.  get a USED copy of VMWare Fusion VERSION 1 (this is not the newest version - but hold on!) from ebay/Amazon whatever - but don't pay over 20.00 (I paid 17.95 shipping included)!
3.  Install the older (version 1)  VMWare Fusion and then go to the VMWare Fusion website to get a free download of Version 2.  They offered this free to all owners of version 1.
Now something to think about.  When I had VMWare Fusion 1 on my machine, it literally took 3 seconds to load Windows XP (and some people wonder why I have a Mac!).  Upon installing version 2, it takes 10 seconds - and I do not know why!
BTW - make sure this free update is still available http://www.vmware.com/products/fusion/

This works b/c a lot of surplus V1's are being sold cheap.  It is s totally legit option b/c the company is offering to any legit owners of version 1.
