wouldn't this be a door latch problem? initially, the door couldn't be closed (there was some resistance) and i believe that some component inside the microwave/oven - at the point where the 2 plastic door safety lock inserts fit into the slots on the body - may have been broken. was attempting to see if there are any appliance service centers in the area who could repair it. the one i phoned indicated that they don't handle microwaves.

the problem occurred after i finally was able to close the door.

How to unlock sharp stove?

Not super familiar with Sharp Microwave ovens Convection or not,
but most microwave ovens can run into at least two reasons that they won't open and both require you to remove the cover over the whole oven - If the door has a push-button to release the door, you could find inside it has popped free of it's pivots and is not lifting up the latches on the door so you can open it, or is has actually snapped that latch. The other thing I have seen more on Panasonic microwave ovens and again moreso on the newer Inverter ovens, is that the latching assembly inside is attached to too thin a piece of metal and the metal actually bends - now your door and it's latching assembly and switches don't line up properly.
In that case you will still need to remove the cover and do your best to realign the switch assembly with the front of the microwave so that the door can click in and out easily.

Door latch sharp 1870

The service manuals you need are here and here.

This is often a broken door open lever or door open button.

You should be able to remove the controller assembly (see video here) and see the parts you need to check.

If not, you will need to remove the oven from the wall.

You can order Sharp parts from Encompass here.

Dometic door on convection microwave wont stay closed

Damaged or bent latch/s---unit would have to be taken apart to see if fixable or needs parts replaced.

I would Google the full model number with "parts" to see what is available for this unit.

Microwave, kenmore 721.89822, will run when powered, but will not cook, no microwaves

HELLO.

Follow some straightforward troubleshooting steps to make your microwave work like new again.

1 Make sure the door is closed. If the door is not closed tight, the microwave will not function.Sometimes food will get stuck in the door and prevent the latch from working. Use the paper towel to get the food out, then close the door carefully and listen for the latch to click.

2 Check the power sources. First, make sure the microwave is plugged in; the plug may have shifted or slipped partway out of the socket. If it is plugged in and still does not work, voltage test the outlet the microwave is plugged into. If you are not getting a reading, the breaker is probably blown. Reset the breaker for that outlet in your home's circuit breaker box.

3 Reset the microwave breaker. Take the back cover of the microwave off with a screwdriver. Inside you will find a motor. Most microwave motors have a small red reset button on them. Hit that button. Your microwave should work again if the breaker was the issue.

Thanks.

I have a amv6167bds and convection works but no micro

Check the door safety interlock switches ... tiny micro switches found near the latch mech inside the cabinet.

If they are faulty, the oven thinks the door is open and will not turn on the 'heat' in microwave mode.

Thank you for your question @ FixYa.com

Runs but doesn't heat replaced two fuses and magnetron still doesn't heat

Here is your free answer in under 10 minutes ...

You have a faulty door safety interlock switch. I wish you would have searched your problem here before you spent all that money on the magnetron. I have answered this question dozens of times here at this site.

When the oven runs but doesn't heat, more often than not it is nothing more than a faulty micro switch in the door latch system. When the switch doesn't work properly, the oven doesn't know the door is closed. If the door isn't closed, the oven will not energize the magnetron. Capacitors and magnetrons are **** and expensive answers but these items are extremely tough. It is the tiny contacts in the micro switch that can not stand the repeated abuse given them when we (read me in that number too) open the oven while it is energized causing a repeated flash across the contacts.

Thanks for your question @ FixYa.com

Sharp 930 AK Convection/Microwave Oven

When you close the oven door the latches operate a couple of interlock switches that control power. It may be that one of the door switches is bad or out of adjustment. It's also possible that one of the door latches is broken so it's not hitting the switch. There should be two door latches. Are they both there? This oven could be fixed by adjusting or replacing the interlock parts as needed. Because of concerns about microwave leakage from an improper door seal, you should have this oven serviced by a professional.
