WHEN TURNING ON LEXMARK 7300 SERIES FAX/COPIER/SCANNER THE SCANNER PORTION MAKES A SOUND LIKE THE DRIVE BELT/GEARS ARE SKIPPING. DEVICE WILL NOT SCAN

Have you checked if the SHIPPING LOCKING mechanisme is in place, if so remove it...

Try to re-insert the installation disc that came with your printer. Run the disc and make sure to install the Lexmark scan driver. If you have a firewall enabled, make sure to allow all access to all Lexmark software and printer communication processes in the program rules/permissions for your firewall.

Scanner mechanism stuck, making loud clicking sound


I've just got this problem after a powercut, whilst it was not being used but on. If you have only had it a few months send it in warranty.
Think I will have to take this apart and see if the scanner cable/ribbon/drive belt is caught on something or been stretched too much and can be replaced at all.
Its like at one end its caught and wont move the scanning head being stuck somehow, caught on something (doubtful tho').

The printer is making a gear clicking sound.


I had exactly the same problem with my OfficeJet 6110 as reported above (i.e. the scan head not knowing where the end-stop is). This is how to fix it (this method worked for me) 1) Lift up the scanner/copier hinged lid. Around the edge of the scan glass are 4 Torx screws. Undo all four screws. 2) Carefully prise the control panel faceplate off. The buttons underneath are on a single panel. Slide this to the left and lift off. 3) Jiggle the lid of the scanner to get it off the main body of the printer. 4) Locate the scan engine motor (top right corner) and remove the two motor retaining screws (one on the left of the motor, the other on the right). 5) Lift out the entire mechanism (rod, drive belt, scan head) and turn over. 6) Thoroughly clean all glass and mirrored areas of the scan head. Also clean the scan lamp on the top of the scan head. Clean the tray inside the scanner (where the scan head travels back and forth). Also clean the inside and outside of the scanner glass pane itself. 7) Refit all parts, using the technique described above, in reverse order. 8) Switch on printer. It should now work OK. Lexmark series x2350 all in one scanner does not work.


Is the scanner driver installed ?. You can check this by unplugging the USB cable from the back of the printer and connecting it again. If you get any Plug and Play prompts on the computer, install the driver by pointing it to the correct scan driver location.

Lexmark x4270 fax machine receives faxes but won't feed paper


Hi,

Try cleaning the rollers in X4270 printer. You may need to clean the scan lens and the white roller.

1. Unplug the power cord and the phone line from the wall.
Open the control panel.
2. Pull the roller lever forward, and then lift the white roller out of the All-In-One.
3. Use a clean, lint-free cloth dampened with water to wipe the white roller and the scan lens.
4. Reinstall the white roller.
5. Reconnect the power cord and the phone line.

Next, try to make a standalone copy and let us know the results.

Received fax is unreadable or blurry
Please go through the checklist below to see if the suggested action(s) can resolve the issue.

* Make sure the copy function is working well.
* Print a Clean nozzle page from the Maintenance menu. If the printout has unexpected white or color horizontal streaks or missing portions, print the Clean nozzle page again. If you are still experiencing streaks or mission portions, you may need to replace your cartridge(s).
* The cartridges may need to be aligned.
* You may need to ask the sender to increase their fax quality.

Sent fax is unreadable or blurry.

1. If the receiving party indicates that the fax output is unreadable or blurry, you may want to try increasing the fax quality.
2. Check the scanner glass for excess amounts of smudges and/or fingerprints. If the scanner glass needs cleaning, moisten a clean, lint-free cloth and gently wipe the scanner glass. Make sure the scanner glass is dry before scanning the next document.
