Question about Craftsman 3000 PSI 28 GPM Honda Powered Pressure Washer

Open Question

While using my Brute 3000 powered by a Honda Gc190 with a MTP pump, it starting spraying white water and the sound of the pump changed. I thought immediately of oil from the pump mixed with the water. Now it only sprays water inconsistently - not full bore and continuous. Could the pump seal have gone? What all will I need to replace? where do I start

SOURCE: I have a Brute 3000

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly
It took a bit of research but I think I found the parts list here:
http://www.arkansas-ope.com/BRUTE_PW_020303.pdf (
There WAS a kit for this pump that the part number is B4182 and is no longer available. ( http://www.ppe-pressure-washer-parts.com/horizontal-replacement-pumps

The pump parts list you should be looking at is 020303-2
There are oil seal and water seal kits here: (Half way down the page)
http://www.ppe-pressure-washer-parts.com/brute-pressure-washer-020303-2-parts

You said you got a milky color then lost pressure. Until you tear it down you will not know if it is the water seals or the oil seals you need. Personally.... I was going to repair it for you I would install both sets of seals. What will be frustrating about the repair process is you usually do not get it going again on the first try. You will end up ordering other o-rings to complete the repair. If you get it by the 3rd attempt your doing great!

What may have caused this problem a lack of water supply due to a restriction somewhere. If for example there is an inlet screen to the pump and the supply line was mostly blocked the pump will cause a vacuum and draw the seals inward into the pump. ( I think this is what happened to your pump) Just make sure to check for any inlet strainers or screens. Who knows you might get lucky and just have to clean the screen / strainer.

Kelly

How to remove pump from a powerboss 020309 power washer

Remove the 4 mounting bolts and it will slide of the shaft if it's not rusted. If it's a little rusty it will take time and some good rust buster applied between the pump and engine onto the engine output shaft. Hope this helps, it's not always the easiest thing to do.

HOW DO I DRAIN THE WATER FROM MY HP WASHER FOR WINTER

What I've always done is just disconnect the water hose then start the washer and pull the trigger till no more water comes out. You don't want to run it very long at all after there's no more water though, you can quickly overheat the pump if it is ran without a water supply for too long. I've been doing this for the past 3 years with one of my washers and haven't had any problems with the pump.

Chemical wont siphon

In most cases this is because you have a high pressure tip, the red, white, yellow or green tip, on the wand. The detergent system will only work if you have the black, soap tip on the wand. With a pressure tip on the wand, there is too much back pressure for the syphon system to work. If you are using the soap tip, check the feed tube for the detergent for blockage, especially at the pickup filter and where it attaches to the water line.

Karcher G 3000 BH Engine Pumping Problem

This may not be a motor problem. It sounds like your pump is not working properly and the motor is just following the pump. First thing to do is check for leaks in the pump, wand hose, gun etc. It may also be a blown water seal inside the pump.
