Question about Sony Ericsson Walkman® W995 Cell Phone

1 Answer

When I was charging W995 (for about an hour), the phone body became hot and when I restarted it, the phone was not functioning properly. I went to service centre for maintenance of my w995, but the executive said that repairing the phone will cost me additional rupee even if it was under warranty.

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. If the phone becomes hot it means that there's something wrong with the motherboard. If the executive told you that you need to pay for the repair you need to check the warranty. Sometimes warranty covers repair only but not the parts or it will depends on the warranty agreement.

Thanks

Can you still charge a sony ericsson w995 if it had water damage??

Hi djbooth23,
It's possible to charge it, if it's not already damaged, just follow the steps bellow:
1) Remove the battery.
2) Give the battery and the phone a while to become dry (don't try to charge it will it's still wet as it can damage it).
3) Once that the phone is dry, put the battery into the phone again.
4) If it doesn't turn on, try to charge it.
5) If the charger gets hot and the phone doesn't start charging, disconect it and try to clean the connector inside using an old dry toothbrush to remove any possible short circuit.
6) If the problem persists take your phone to a repair center so they can open it and review it.
I'll be here to help you if you need further assistance.

No network coverage?!

OK i have just fixed my W995 that also came up with No network coverage out of the blue. Also when i went to charge it it said i needed a SE battery.

All this problem is, software. Yes simply all your phone needs is a software update. Sony Ericsson are known for disconnecting peoples phones if they do not have the latest software.

Go to http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/softwaredownloads/detailed/updateservice/w995?lc=is&cc=is

Should solve your problem. It did for me:)

Handset dead

Upma I have experienced this before and if the phone has been damp by body heat or other moisture then it does do this. try drying it out with a hairdrier on a cool setting. then leave it to dry properly for a couple of days in a warm NOT HOT place. the keypad will start to work and the battery will settle as well. let me know how this goes. t1m0thy
