Every time I turn on my printer I get the message: The waste ink absorber is almost full.Press the printers start button to restart printing. This is not a big deal to do but I'd rather not fuss with...

The waste ink absorber is the place where the head rests to the side of the printer (under where the heads are when you change the ink). There is a way to empty them.
Call a print job. When the heads move away, gently stop them with your hand. They should stop, and an error will come up. Soak up the sponge in the original location with a paper towel. Then reset the printer, and the heads should return to normal, hopefully without the error message.

Waste Ink Absorber Full: Can I fix this myself or do I need to take the printer in (or replace it?) If I can fix (or empty it), where is it and how do I access it?

Waste pad ink or waste ink absorber can be found inde the machine. Open the cover and you can see the plastic tank with foam, and replace the foam. goodluck

Printer says ''waste Ink absorber is full'' see service center

This is what the manual says: Ink used for cleaning is absorbed in a waste ink absorber placed in the machine. Press [OK] to cancel the error so that you can continue printing. Once the waste ink absorber becomes completely full, printing cannot be done until the waste ink absorber is replaced.
Canon recommends to contact a Canon service representative as soon as possible.
