Question about Dryers

I have. Maytag legacy dryer that stoped spinning I replaced the belt, the old one was fraying n cracked n streached out. The moter spins but the bel I s not turning the drum. Any ideas??

Check the roller wheels on the back of the drum they might need replacing there usally at the bottom against the back of the unit also duoble check how u hooked up the belt once i thought i put a belt on it was wrong the spring should be tight...

Maytag legacy series washer


The drive motor which spins the drum is connected to the drum by a rubber belt. Sounds like the belt is burned through. Make sure you can spin the inside tub by hand to verify that the tub can turn freely before you replace the belt. The hum is from the drive motor just spinning freely.

May be the bearing in your direct drive shaft. If washer is a belt drive, the belt could be frayed

maytag has rear rollers and front drum glides when goes out sound like sand paper scratching, also inspect belt idler same noise

Mav6260 washer will not spin


the belts on these units will streach, and alot of the early unit had bad belts.

the unit should spin with or with out water in the spin cycle

also the thrust bearing on these units go bad often.

this is a magic chef washer with the maytag name on it.

Banging noise


You may have had a foreign object slip under a loose drum baffle. Manually rotate the drum to locate wwhich baffle it is in.

My washer will not spin off the water


Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked. Check as well that pumps spins. Good luck
