Does it Transmit?? Does meter show transmit?? Can you hear?? If its hearing an transmit could be Microphone, or speaker, or other more serious problems inside circuit. Change mics and hook up Ext Spkr. If that does not do it, then radio is gone. Buy new radio instead of repairs.

Its finals that make a radio not Transmit. Final is a Transistor in the rear on a heat sink.

SOURCE: no talking

This could be several things, first I'd look at your antenna system, make sure its matched to your truck. When I say this you need a good ground good coax at least 18 foot, the mount and it installed right and the right kind of antenna, they make many different one because not all work on what you're installing it on. Then I'd check your mic if it has a broke wire it can also cause the problem you're having, most midland mics are wired different so don't just find another one.

Hi i have a radio shack hanheld trc-231 and a trc-241. I would like to know how i can tweak my trc231 to the max and i need to find out whats wrong with my trc241 as it has a weak transmitting signal out...

First , make an external antenna and listen.

You can make one ,

• with a use of a 9 ft long , 1 in diam aluminum tube,

• RG-58 cable and

• BNC antenna connector for your radio

Install it above the roof , 10 ft height of mask is OK

higher is better

• Use 4 guy wires as ground.

It doesnt work

There may not be much chatter (people talking) in your area. Try to find a local CB friend who may introduce you to the CB world.

The 2 antennas idea does not increase input or output, in fact they (without additional high powered equipment) cancel each other out. Most CBers will only connect one antenna and have another installed and not connected but only for cosmetic reasons. Its only once a very high power threshold in reached that 2 connected antennas will be a benefit. Those are the ones that there output bleeds all over other peoples TVs and AM/FM radios.

Good luck

Cobra 29 ltd classic side mic

First off I dont believe anyone to peek and tune but anyways. Make sure your mike is for the radio wiring. Next the guy that rigged it up might have gave you all the channels do all your knobs work??? usually you can tall as you get someone to talk with you a few blocks away and start, start turning and flipping switches till you can hear him most likely the guy that did the work on it messed it up. for a filter use a farite choke from radioshack on the mike wire.

No rx

so the swr is fine antenna has not been hit by lightning i assume as the swr would be all wacke out check to see if the rf gain is turned all the way down maybe if you have little ones they play with everything as i know all so well. or mabe the squelch was turned allt the way up if either turn squelch down all the way and turn the rf gain all the way up if not the audio chip on the rt side of the board could be shoted out if the radio has pa put switch to pa with external speaker attached key mic and talk if you here yourself talking the chip is good. by the way has the radio been tweaked any time recently it may be also alignment problem??

sounds like your audio chip is gone. When you say it shows carrier signal is it just showing dead key or does it show modulation when you talk? 85% chance its audio chip without having it in front of me i couldn't tell for sure.

Losed all

The talk back may be nothing more than a 10 ohm resistor shorted across the pa/external speaker outputs. If this is the sitution, the resistor may have damaged the audio chip. Remove the resistor and see if this corrects the problem. If not you may need to replace the audio chip. Hope this helps
