the fault you describes here is due to its printwheel trouble. Type digit '8' for some time. On rare occations, this may get the lost segment to right. If not, you have to replace its printwheel. OK

I was looking around and found these instruction that resets code but you need a remote to do this, i dont think there is anyway around without a remote.

KENWOOD SECURITY CODE CLEAR procedure

Your radio will require one of the following procedures.

Type 1

During the code request mode, while holding the DISP key depressed, press and hold the Volume UP or DOWN key for 3 seconds (so that "..." disappears).

Then using your remote enter your code.

Type 2

Press the "Auto" button and "Track up" on face of radio at the same time. The four dash lines ( . . . . ) should "disappear".

Then using your remote enter your code.

Type 3

Model# DPX-4020 and DPX-4030

Press and hold the 1 then the 6 preset key (preset keys are the buttons on face of radio for storing you "favorite" radio stations). "C" should display.

Then using your remote, enter your code.

IN YOUR RADIO: DISPLAY WILL ASK FOR CODE AND CODE ---- APPEARS ON, SO, HOLD .DISP AND PRESS VOL UP AT LEAST 3 SECONDS. THE "----" WILL DISSAPREAR. NOW TAKE YOUR REMOTE AND DIGIT "KCAR" WITH THE NUMBER PAD.

I think you are talking about bullet points, right? You have to start a list and right click on the number. Then go to Bullets and Numbering and select the type of Roman numerals you like (lower or upper case).

Under the ribbon there is a motor that drives the print wheel try to get some light oil on the front and rear bearings (wd 40 usally works well) its a little hard to get to the rear one.
